Very catchy, Neil. One for us old codgers! I fondly remember handling album covers and poring over the lyrics. Often they were no better than a lot of what I read here, but, hey! - they're on an album cover, which makes them about as sacred as if they had been carved in marble

Neil,
The sound of this is really solid—nice old rock’n roll sound . . . good choice there. And I like the “Shift Happens” hook. It’s a clever word play . . . reminding me of Blake Shelton’s “Some Beach” . . . which, unfairly, makes me wonder if the lyrics could take a different direction, focusing on situations that go unexpectedly wrong for the singer, leading to the hook.
But I stress “unfairly” . . . because that would make it a very different song . and it works pretty well as is.
Enjoyed it, Neil.
Hope all is well with you,
Deej

Deej I understand your point of changing lyrics. Yes it would be different. I wrote this thinking about people who are stuck in the past , in older ways of thinking. (deny climate change, stay with gas engines instead of hybrids etc.) Rather than preach, I have tried to make it relevant.
