Here's another one featuring Mike Zaneski's myriad skills. We're both pleased with the result, and hope you enjoy it as well. Thanks for listening. And thank you as well to those who gave valuable input in the Lyrics feedback forum. It's certainly a different sound and I like the scary voice.
I think it would be an interesting experiment to see something different going on in the chorus with maybe a few sound effects rattles and rasps) and minimum, contrasting verse lyric, that is, if you want to be coming from the comic angle.

Hi Donna and Mike:
Creative to the core on all fronts. An imaginative lyric taken skyward by a melody and raggedy vocal. Enjoyed my listen. This is a unique collaboration and I wish you the best with it.

This is awesome! Love the deep voice. It sounds like you dragged Gramps out of the cellar! Very creative lyrically and the music set it off perfectly. Two talented people make for a great collab. Ricki

Loved the opening music. Yea, Dr. John mood for dang sure, but with more of a Tom Waits lyric for the verses -- what a combination! Mr. Z is mighty talented! Good writing and playing all around. Fine production, too.

Love it guys! The vocal works perfect with the lyrics. Well chosen instrumentation. Gives it kind of a Dixieland feel. Good job Donna and Mike! Best, John

Hi Calvin, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Hi Vic, "junk percussion," was the first thing I thought of, before I even started on this. It's in there, but I could easily add some more choice scrap heap drops at big junctures--that would sound cool indeed... Hi Michael, yeah, it's the tuba, it makes one think of Dixieland--yeah it's strange combo of Dixieland and Gypsy Jazz and other forms of grit. Glad you liked it! Hi Dave, Thank you! I love projects that beg for something unique--well maybe not unique, but maybe different, and off in its own little world, LOL. Thanks again. Hi Ricki, funny you should mention--I had just grabbed my inner grandpa from the cellar, and stuck him in front of the microphone. I'm so happy you like it. Hi Jimmy, I love Dr. John, and appreciate the comment! HI Kevin, thanks! I love Waits, and was thinking '73 Waits, to get the sound out of my lower baritone. Tibetan throat singing was an influence, too--just cuz I was remembering how those guys really attack the notes, making overtones fly around. I wanted some of that. Hi John, thanks. Yeah, a pretty small subgenre-- "dark Dixieland" ..LOL..thanks again. Hi Lane, thanks! I love an accordion that "swings." That sound just makes me happy. I'm glad you enjoyed this! Hi Janice and Bud, those are great speakers! I think they make headphones too. Yeah I developed mixing habits of super-compressing the bass instruments, and the drums somewhat, so the mixes should make speakers come alive. Thanks ! Hi Mackie, Thanks! I love using my "morning voice" for songs--not as flexible as the upper registers, but so much fun. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Donna is an amazing writer and writes things that are fun to sing. Thanks all! Mike

Mike, this song comes marching at you straight out of the heart of New Orleans. You sound like you've been playing Dixieland Jazz all your life. Remarkable. I really enjoyed the song.

Different, undeniably so, lyrically vocally and production wise first class. At first it sounded like a Calvin classic! Best of luck with it folks Travis

This song reminded me of the song Deep Elm Blues by Hank Thompson and others.
