Breaking up is hard to do...

[color:#000099]SHE MAKES IT LOOK EASY

no one likes leaving somebody hurt
broken-hearted and crying
you try everything to make it work
sometimes you can't stop love from dying
piece by piece it rips you up inside
it's a hard thing to say goodbye

   she makes it look easy
like it's a natural thing to do
   she makes it look easy
   tearing my world in two
i never thought she had it in her to do it
she walked away like there was nothing to it
   she's breaking my heart
and she makes it look easy

friday nights she's stepping out
she's with somebody new
carrying on in a corner booth
the way that we used to
it's killing me she's moved on
acting like there's nothing wrong

Thanks for listening.

Title should be, "You make it look easy" cuz that's what you do, Floyd. Small nit, well not even a nit really, because either works, but I wanted to hear "she's MOVIN' on" to keep it present tense with "killing" and "acting", but that's just a preference to my ear I guess. Another fine performance and beautifully produced track. -TK

Floyd, this reminds me of the Eagles. Great harmonies and lead vocal. Great phrasing. Sounds like it's ready for radio AirPlay to me. Keep up the good work.

Really good stuff. I thought the harmonies throughout this brought this to another level. Very catchy chorus and hook, again using the harmonies in a really cool way. Nice guitar solo as well. Enjoyed the listen, as usual. Good luck with this my man

Thanks, Tim. She has already moved on - so that should not be present tense - while the "killing me" and "acting" are still occurring. (plus the fact that it would add a bump and disrupt the prosody).

Hey Floyd,

That was a great listen, and a damn fine song.

To my ears, I would like the vocal turned up a notch, and a small spike at about 1k.

The vocal is "dull" compared to the music and doesn't cut through.

I won't mention the "drummer".

All is all, it's worth carrying on with this track.

cheers, niteshift

Hi Floyd,

I think I originally wrote something like "this glazed a smile upon my face that won't go away" and I can attest that it's still working it's charm. Clever and not without heart.

Your professional sound is there. Hook is where it should be.
Vocal is second to none.

Another great write Floyd. The only nit I have - and it's the salesman in me - is that you ended the song with about 40 seconds of music. Why not use that as a musical bridge and end with the shortened chorus? That way you have the hook as the last thing your listener hears.

Hey Floyd,

This song is one that many would sing along with and appeal to many for sure. Well done as usual. I thought your vox was fine, we all probably hear differently I suppose--I'm usually listening on decent headphones myself. I would like to hear the lead guitar solo up a notch, I know Colin always told me that a guitar solo should match the presence of the lead vox with ballad type music--always exceptions with vibe of course. For me, I want to feel like the lead player steps out and the "front man" steps back trading places for those special measures.

Another great song Floyd!

Good, concise, easy-flow lyric, with a neat twist on a universal theme. Excellent hook. Nice & catchy.

Pleasing vocals (and BU) and top-notch music & melody make this song a real pleasure to listen to.

Thank you for sharing it. smile

This is one of my favs from your studio--Nashville needs to wake up and do a few FLOYD JANE Productions!

Top shelf production, arrangement and performance, Floyd. I wish I could get the sound you do. Really nice guitar work intermingled in and out during the tune. A good time was had by all.
