Post a Neil Young song that you've recorded. You can imitate his voice, but that's not necessary. It just has to be his song. I would love to hear the variations of his music.
I'll start working on mine.

You're a brave man Mike. You had the voice pretty close. I'll see if I can still play the acoustic to the song and maybe we can sync it up.
Go for it Barry. Look forward to hearing it.

Good stuff Bugsey. I think "Hurricane" was more of a "Crazy Horse" song. At least that's when I saw him live on the "Rust Never Sleeps" tour. He played it with "Crazy Horse". That doesn't matter. It's still Neil Young.

Loved it Scott. The banjo, resonator guitar, and vocal harmony really added a lot to the song. I thought about posting "Heart Of Gold" myself. I'll finish mine later today.

Thanks Ben I couldn't find my glass slide for those notes on the resonator so I had to use the steel edge of my capo Looking forward to hearing what you come up with. Scott

Here's "Sugar Mountain". Now time for some excuses. Believe me, I'm not trying to imitate Neil's voice, just singing high. I tried a lower octave but it didn't sound right. I had to check my manhood when I was finished. Also, I haven't played the harp on a regular basis in twenty five years and the harp itself is about thirty years old. So I'm as rusty as the harp is. Hope you like it anyway. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13046476

Great song. Nice job on acoustic and really nice harp.

I think Hurriance is more of a band song, maybe thats why.

Nice, Ben. LOL, I hear you about singing high. Gets tougher every year to hit those notes. I was unfamiliar with the song - had to look it up on Wikipedia after I listened to your version. Has an interesting history... Surprised you can get anything out of that harp after 30 years. Scott

Thanks Scott. I soaked the harp in water for awhile to wake the reeds up.
Guess I'll need to buy a new set someday.

http://soundcloud.com/steady-eddie I took Bugsey's "Neil Young Cover challenge" and recorded one of my all time fav's of Neil's. I first did it with the six string pretty much imitating the classic song, but decided to go a little different direction and use a 12 string acoustic, and speed it up just a "hair." Added a little modest percussion and a couple of small harmonies just for fun. (I'm not a lead guitar player, so it is what it is)..... I just NOW (2/23/15) realized that Ben Willis started this Neil Young idea--I thought it was Bugsey. I also thought we were to post at the MP3 forum as that is where I saw Bugsey's posts, (which is fine) so I followed his footsteps Ben--and forgot that I had read your post a few days earlier and thought it Bugsey's. I didn't even know these posts were here. So anyway I have posted at the MP3 forum but will post here for fun! This is a little different vibe and I purposely wanted to do the song a little different and be a little "creative," than the classic sound that we all have engrained within our memories.

Mike--Nice acapella, nice tone, a good vibe for you by the way.
Bugsey--I already commented on a couple of yours at the MP3--but real nice, especially Harvest Moon.
Scott--caught you and heard you in that other forum, not JPF --great performance with this pretty complete arrangement and vibe, nice job.
Ben--will take a listen to your's now.
Calvin, we're waiting........

Ben--I haven't heard that song in years, really nice job with this. I can see that Neil Young's style fits well with you.

Nice rendition Ed, a little different with the twelve-string and effects but you stayed true to the song. I enjoyed it.
