I lost a nephew on 1-17-15 in a car accident.Nat lived life past the limits. He struggled with his demons but he had such a great heart when they left him alone.RIP Nat!Mike https://soundcloud.com/mojo-mike/a-song-for-natA Song For Nat You flirted with the wrong and the right But made no promise to either one There were times you were dark as the night And times you shone bright as the sun There you stood at the edge with no fear Determined to fall or to fly There were times no one dared to come near And times when we walked by your side This my friend, made you who you are And for that i,i understand And so my friend, you're my shooting star And i only wish, that you never land The smiles you gave are a treasure to hold The tears we share is for your love The stories you made are forever to be told Be it by the hawk or the dove You've earned your wings from battles that you fought And from all the love that you gave We can all take it in as a lesson you taught To live life on the crest of a wave This my friend, made you who you are And for that i,i understand And so my friend, you're my shooting star And i only wish, that you never land

Mike,
A very nice tribute song. I think your description of Nat is echoed in your song.

Hi Michael, I'm very sorry for your loss. This song is very unique to Nat, but also really relatable...I think many of us have a "Nat" in our lives, so full of life, living on the edge, and leaving too soon.... Lisa

Hi Michael,
First off, so sorry you and your family have had to endure your nephew's untimely passing.
That said, you've done a lovely job honoring his life. I thought the first two verses were particularly well-written, and gosh, the first two lines -- fabulous.
I'm so impressed that you've been able to create something positive out of -- and on the very recent heels of -- this tragedy. Kudos for that, and again, my condolences....
Beth

Mike,
I love the feel of this. It's not overly sad which it could be under the circumstances and that would certainly be understandable. I like writing these type of songs to be honest and I think they are enjoyable to listen to. If a song tears your heart out it can be tough to want to listen to over and over...
Great tribute. It's a shame anyone has to suffer loss like this but it seems we all do. Hang in there!

"You've earned your wings from battles that you fought And from all the love that you gave We can all take it in as a lesson you taught To live life on the crest of a wave"
There's a lot of wisdom packed in those lines.
Wonderful tribute.
RIP

thank you J & B!You can't think too much on what you want to say on a tribute song,it should come easy as to what you think about a person.I've seen some people sugar coat tributes which is okay i guess but no need to hide what everyone knows anyway,i think.Mike
