I just found this one. Really nice sound. Nice to hear a song in 6-8 for a change.
I agree with the Piano Man and Dylan similarities mentioned above. That is a good thing!!!! I like the way the harp fades out all alone.
The lyrics are cool and the vocal works really well.
Great job!

I like what you have, Nelson. Melody and lyric. It's catchy. Yes, it's a fact. After you post it the flaws seem to show up. Also the flaws seem to get bigger with each listen.
I'm constantly tweaking mine, even to the point of obsession.
Vic Thanks Vic. I think it's cool to be in a perpetual state of tweaking. I don't mean completely changing it but minor changes, correcting things that come to your attention doing subsequent listens. I describe it as, affording each song the opportunity of becoming great.

Great song. With the devil in the title I did not expect it to be so mellow for some reason. I'm fanning you on reverb and listening to the rest of your work too.

Great lyrics. I will need to search through my receipts and figure out when that one (or maybe there is more than one) is due on my end ;~))

Mister Nelson, I've been a fan of yours since I discovered you on these boards, I remember tellin' ya that a long time ago.
I sure hear Dylan here, but I still hear that "Zac Brown" that has always come to me somewhere in your songs!
I pick it up here in your vocals, love it!

Howdy Mr. nelson ...
Well, it's all been said, but we'll risk redundancy and say some of it again.
A lot of music in a short time space. It has everything it needs and not a single thing it doesn't need.
Like so many have said, great, great lines throughout. What we enjoyed about the lyric, that we've not seen mentioned yet (maybe overlooked it thought as haven't read but half of the posted comments) is the internal rhymes. Those are what really sweetens a line. They're hard to do and not appear contrived. But you pulled it off perfectly.
To us, your voice sounded much like a morphing of Neil Diamond and Rusty Weir. We hope you accept that as a compliment as it is intended so.
This was a great two-and-half minutes of listening pleasure. Thanks for the smiles on our faces!
Alan & Di

Geneva Hey Geneva Yes I remember, so much so that I think of kind folks like you, when it seems a song is good enough for the DONE STAMP… and I keep pushing, continuing to listen to it and work on it. Simply because of folks out there (fans of my work? bless your hearts) I do not want to disappoint. You are still too kind _But I’ll take it every time. Happy Holidays to Ya

I really like this Nelson. Best song I've listened to today. I really expected a closing verse after the bridge and repeating the third verse would be an ideal closing. Ending the song with "and the devil is due today"
