Here's one that started on the lyric forum. I hit the studio and recorded it. www.ourstage.com/epk/summeoyo1You may need to click on the arrow by "music" in order to see the photo/icon. I'm looking for feedback on presentation.

summeoyo,
The presentation is fine. Vocals are recorded well. The piano track could use an occasional meandering... small groups of lead notes - a tinkling here and there - fills -to give it some flavoring...

You rush the lines in the middle and I missed "if you buy your fuel this way" and had to go back and listen again.
Since the lyric isn't posted, I didn't understand the two pump idea because I missed some of your words, you really could sell it better with more inflections and less word rushing.
The piano also creates more of a background drone and doesn't hi-lite anything you are saying, I do understand that you do comedy speaking songs on stage?? I get the piano is just a tempo backdrop.
I didn't understand the humor/lyric because I didn't hear the words very well and know if you perform this it should be very clear without a lyric and also if you are giving a funny line, changing your voice in tone or volume could help.
Sorry, not trying to be a downer, I find what you do fascinating, but just honestly I didn't understand the lyric without reading it.

Hi Summeyoyo,
I was very interested to hear this after you posted it on forum 3, and the flavor/tone is what I was imagining -- I enjoyed your presentation! Seeing what Tammy had posted, I tried to forget that I had already read the lyric, and, as Tammy said, there were parts that would be hard to understand. And, it is the kind of song where you have to really hear and understand every word!
I'm very interested to hear back about how it goes over with your live audience, as you talked about on forum 3!

You should make it easier for people to find the music. A lot of folks won't go searching on a page looking for the correct file. I was unfamiliar with the lyrics, and I still don't understand what was going on in the first verse.

Tammy Me bad. I forgot that ourstage.com doesn't have a link to lyrics on the EPK. Here it is: TWO PUMP CHUMP (c) 2013 by Summeoyo I drove my car into the station..........to put some gas into my tank. So I quickly did proceed to get fuel I thought I'd need On the trip that I was making to the bank. The cashier asked if 'that is all for you today - It seems so strange for you to buy your fuel this way - You will never go real far in a truck or in a car - You can't travel like a star if you're a TWO PUMP CHUMP.' The cashier's words came back to haunt me......... during my workout at the gym. I must honestly report, my routine I did cut short So a reprimand came from my trainer, Tim. “It's your choice – the kind of shape you want to be. The fit look's what your fans would want to see. Yes I know you are a bard and at times you're such a card. You'll be flabby and not hard if you're a TWO PUMP CHUMP.” My mother sat me down one ev'ning...She said...”I wanna talk some birds and bees. There's some knowledge you are missin' . So I think you ought to listen If your lady is the one you want to please.” “Oh you may bring your lady flowers ev'ry day. You may tell her that you love her – that's okay.” “You may fit like hand and glove........ but she will not rise above - And she'll never fall in love............ if you're a TWO PUMP CHUMP

Thanks for the suggestions.

Lisa My virgin voyage with performing TWO PUMP CHUMP didn't go perfectly. I muffed the second verse but finished strong - but that's part of learning a new song. One must learn how to recover when performing. So I don't get too embarrassed. If I take it too seriously, it's not fun. The venue at which I performed it typically doesn't warm up to a song until they've heard it several times. I receive requests frequently for "The Meat Packer's Song"(It's also on my EPK)But like songs on the radio, the radio audience or live audience doesn't get to read the lyrics and won't take the time to research them. But if they like the hook, that they will remember rather quickly.

Just an update and an answer to a response below when this song was just at the lyric stage:
Well, from a lady's point of view...I think they will definitely get it, but whether they will sing it at the end will depend upon their circumstances. If a bunch of women are out together and have had a few drinks, then perhaps so.
If women are with their boyfriends or husbands...then they would, I imagine, be far more reluctant. If she's with a two-pump chump, then he might be nasty in other ways, too, and she wouldn't want to irritate him. Or, he might be really sweet, and she wouldn't want to hurt his feelings. And if she's not with a two-pump chump, then she wouldn't want to give him the impression that she related to the song! LOL!
Interesting question...it gives me a fun insight into what live performers think about and deal with, so thanks for sharing that!
I've performed this song several times and have had it played on commercial radio - you know - the Sunday night local open mic types. I've watched way too many women mouthing but not saying the last "TWO PUMP CHUMP"

I gotta ask an opinion on this song. This one is a favorite at many of the venues where I perform. However, I add a tag at the end of my live performance that I don't have on the recorded version. See my audition video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anNcqMw5c3MShould I go back to the studio and add the tag or save it just for my live performances?

HI Summeoyo,
That was quite entertaining! I like the suit and old-fashioned hat ... it gives it that burlesque kind of feel. I think saving the tag for your live performances is good ...but I'm not wedded to that idea!
I read an autobiography of Alan Alda called "Never Have Your Dog Stuffed." I think you would enjoy the book. Alda's father was a burlesque performer and Alda learned comedy at his knee. It gives some really interesting insights into comedic performances that you'd appreciate.

Hi summeoyo, Another really cool novelty song, just maybe needing 4 bars of piano instrumental, in between the verses, that echo the tag line melody. This makes me want to go watch Benny Hill reruns. Ah, the joys of adolescence. Mike

Aah Benny Hill. Do any of the cable channels play his reruns? It seems like a lot of people liked what he did - but were afraid to admit it. What I've learned from comedians is that I have to avoid the musical interludes between lyrical lines. Dead air is the bane of the comedian. I do talk through some of my musical bridges in some of my older novelty tunes when performing live. The musical bridge just doesn't work if comedy is the aim. The songwriter in me wants to write more music - but the comedian wants to fill the song with uninterrupted lyrics. They fight a lot.
