in the spirit of the season..... https://soundcloud.com/mac-charles/we-woke-up-to-peace-around-theI don't know what happened, but it happened over night, in the news this morning how the whole world lost it's will to fight, dropped their guns and walked away for better things- I know I'm a dreamer, but how can this be true, it was only yesterday that you hurt us and we hurt you, and if we had no enemy, we'd make one up- oooh, if it's fixed don't try to break it- oooh, we may never sleep again- we woke up to peace around the world- due to lack of interest, they cancelled the war, with all the news so positive, the talking heads don't talk anymore, they're sleeping like babies with their t.v.'s off- no one is frightened, when there's nothing to fear, better dead than red will be the punchline of the year my friend, there's no red or blue when we're all color blind- oooh, if it's fixed don't try to break it- oooh, we may never sleep again- we woke up to peace around the world- it only happens while we're dreaming, see the world in safety's keeping, keep the nightmares out of reach- we wake up with bloody hands, print our headlines, take a stand, never practice what we preach- say your peace..... oooh, if it's fixed don't try to break it- oooh, we may never sleep again- we woke up to peace around the world-

mac,
Nice! Another terrific write. Love how you get so much out of just simple production. How many times did it take to get that guitar track so clean? Awesome playing. Would be interested to know what mic you use...(vocal and guitar)
Enjoyable!

Really nice, Mac. The Jazzy arrangement and vocal phrasing reminds me of Joni Mitchell.

Very nice Mr. Mac. No comparisons - you are out there on that ledge all by yourself! (which is probably where you want to be). Regards, Bob

Floyd,
thanks for the spin, my gear is pretty minimal....I have two acoustics, two electrics, a bass and one sm 58 mic......that's it. it gets tracked on a tascam 2488 neo.
michael,
thank you sir.
stevie,
just when I think I've heard every comparison, you come up with a monster like mitchell.........thank you.
Bob,
some days I feel like I'm on that ledge, some days I feel like I'm too musically safe....thanks for the spin.

Hi Mac Love the theme -- I hope you take another round with it -- not to say this one is anything less than your usual excellence -- just this it's a worthy direction in case you haven't enjoyed this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRmBChQjZPsMy best to you jm

Hey Mac!
The acoustic guitar is dragging--NOT! Just messing with you! Nice performance/production.
This was really a fun up tempo ride--it's actually kind of cool how the story and music vibe contrast in some ways, but cool as it accentuates the dream of living in a world with peace--cool.

Eddie,
thanks for the thumbs up, speaking of tempo.....tunes like these are so from the hip, I don't use click tracks.....so the tempo almost got away from me here and there ...ha ha...
the bass was pretty difficult in spots, the tempo would speed up a bit in the middle of a bass run.......fun to play though, thanks again for the spin.

Im a sucker for music that is unique, offbeat (progressive?)...BUT highly accessible to all who take a moment to listen. You are, if anything, a constant reminder of where a lot of us want to be one day, while even a more painful reminder that even if you are good (I mean, really good) it doesn't mean *^&% in the muzic biz, today.
In other words, Mac, stop pissing people off with your awesome music or I might have to complain to Brian. yuk yuk!
Keep up the awesome tunage, Mac!
