Travis David (John Vaughn) sent me a pm asking me if I'd take a stab at composing music for this cute little ditty he wrote with Stan Good. He said Stan was going to ask me the week before he passed away but he never got the chance. I agreed to "musicate" it and am glad I did. I think Stan would have liked it. That is great Stevie and Travis and also (if your listening)Stan.
I bet he would have been in fits of laughter.
I suspect Stevie that it was very hard not to sing the words correctly as correct diction is the lifeblood of a vocalist.
well done and thanks for doing it

Oh my gosh, I think that Stan would have LOVED this! I got such a kick out of how he and Travis were like two kids themselves messing around with this one after Travis wrote it, and now, Stevie, you brought it to life! And what a tribute -- to bring it to life! I love it!-- Lisa

This is hilarious! Really well done. Stan would have had a ton of fun responding on this one, I'm sure.
A great lyric. And, Stevie, a terrific production - cool music - and loved the whip crack and the "horse" at the end.
Well done, guys.

TEWIFFIC STEVIE! You've turned a lywic into a gweat fun song. Twavis I'm glad you like it, Travis. It's always a bit unnerving composing music for someone else' lyric as they usually have some sort of head tune for it already and it's gonna be really different than they imagined. The whip crack was my wife's addition. Stevie

Very fun tune guys. For this to get over-the-top it's gotta have an Elmer Fudd soundalike to my ears. One thing you might try is pitch shifting the whole mix up a major 2nd or minor third. It might move the presentation into a more cartoon like dimension.
If you don't have the capability to do this, PM me a link to the .wav or aiff file (EG on dropbox), and I'll do it for you. It'd only take a few minutes.
It's a cool idea. I like it.
Peace,

I wasn't thinking of Elmer when I worked out the vocal phrasing and voice inflections but it did come out that way. I guess that comparison is unavoidable. Anyway, it was fun to do. Stevie

Peace,
Ian Thanks for the offer, Ian. I tried your suggestion but it didn't work for me. It took it too much over the top for what I wanted it to be. I even tried to go somewhere between natural and 1#. It made it too much like I was going for Elmer Fudd, although the comparison was unavoidable I suppose. I was hoping to make the delivery and humor somewhat understated like it was a serious song being sung by some unfortunate singer who can't because of his lisp. It's a fine line to walk between a song being humorous and being simply a novelty song. The difference to me is that people, or at least I get bored with a novelty song after a couple of listens where something more understated or tongue in cheek is more long lasting as far as the humor is concerned. I did take it a little over the top with the whip crack and the horse but didn't want to go too far for the reasons I already stated. By the way, my wife Sherri suggested the whip crack. Anyway, thanks again for the offer and for the suggestion. I did try it but as I said, it didn't work out in the end. Stevie

I do have a Christmas one I've never properly recorded and never posted so stay tuned as Christmas approaches. Thanks to you and Stan for letting me be a part of this. Stevie
