Karen Maquilan posted a wonderful song here a few days ago that brought back memories of three songs I've written. This one was with Jeff Hinton, a Utah singer/songwriter, and the first quality composer I got to work with in 2002. Jeff is singing this one. http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=6183152&q=hi&newref=1GOODBYE (verse) You marked it on your calendar in April By August, you'd have thought I'd be prepared But when I saw that taxi through our office window "Goodbye" was just too much for me to bear (chorus) I wish I would have said I'm happy for you But I couldn't even bring myself to try My heart was feelin' awful weak My lips were too afraid to speak And my eyes couldn't let you see them cry Please forgive me, but I could not say goodbye (verse) I know you've got a brand new job there waitin' An apartment with a great Pacific view And we should watch for postcards in the mailroom Maybe somethin' from the San Diego Zoo (repeat chorus) (bridge) I never said I loved you I couldn't find a way You thought you were just a friend Leaving me today (repeat chorus) Bill Osofsky and Jeff Hinton copyright 2003

Hey Bill,
What a sweet song man! This one flows like butter, nice performance/production/arrangement/lyrics! This is a "perfect" example of how a Bridge should digress musically and lyrically make a dramatic statement.
Jeff's vocals remind me a little of John Denver when John sang serious. Well done!

Hi Bill,
This is SO sad and lovely and touching....sounds awesome....my 10-year-old always seems to walk in while I'm listening to your songs (or maybe your songs draw him over?). Anyway, he just walked in so I asked him for his critique. Here you go:
1. It is very good. 2. That song had strong emotion to it. 3. It is very touching. 4. All I was wondering was, where was he -- which state was he in?
See, he found a FLAW that Eddie missed! You didn't say which STATE he was in! Laughing!

Bill,
THAT is a cool song. Every step of the way.
And a wonderful g/v demo - needs nothing more.
A terrific write.

floyd Thanks, Floyd. I got some blowback about the San Diego zoo when I wrote it, but that seems to have quieted down Bill

We'll have to get a lady singer Actually, someone who can play guitar, too, cause I don't have a track. Maybe a tag at the end, with her saying "goodbye Mary Alice" Bill
