Dandelion Wishes and Butterfly Kisses By Jacqueline Richter and Caroline Holder Featuring Heather Cowles Copyright 2013. All rights reserved. http://www.reverbnation.com/jacquelinerichterShe is a mommy and teacher A lover and unselfish keeper But it wasn't long ago She was mine to hold She was mommy's little helper I fell in love The first time I felt her so alive She kicked me in my right side We shared Dandelion wishes And butterfly kisses Every night before bedtime Then goodnight, sweet dreams Time for lightening bugs And moonbeams Our hearts are forever intertwined Now she has a beautiful little girl that has become her whole world like her mother with eyes Big, blue and bright BROWNIES, CAKES AND TEA MADE UP FOR THE PARTY WITH HER DOLLS GATHERED ‘ROUND GRANDMAS PEARLS PASSED DOWN They share Dandelion wishes And butterfly kisses Every night before bedtime Then goodnight sweet dreams Time for lightening bugs And moonbeams Two hearts are forever intertwined Seeing them learn to love each other is one of the best memories of this mother's life...I guess that my wishes came true... We all talk about Dandelion wishes And butterfly kisses When I call before bedtime... Then goodnight, sweet dreams Time for lightening bugs And moonbeams Our hearts are forever intertwined

Jackie/Caroline,
Beautiful song, love the title, cool idea for lyrics using dandelion! There is something magical how every child seems to like dandelions, and most adults will relate to that.
I have one sug for lyrics--you might consider using the word "entwined," rather than the 3 syllable "intertwined." I think it would flow slightly better.
Beautiful vocals! I like the arrangement--very cool bridge. With the chorus, I would rather see you resolve the last line melodically back to the root chord by going down on "intertwined." As is it feels almost launching or climaxing too early in the song--I would save that melody on the last word for the "tag" at end of the song to give the "icing on the cake" at the end--helps dramatize ending and create "build" throughout the song.
Very nice write, I'm impressed!

Hey guys, Glad yall like the song. This is actually Jackies doing with a little editing on my end. She's got some cool ideas. Yall have seen how much I'm able to get online these days, I write even less, sad to say. One day soon hopefully everything will be better and I can come visit more often.
Anyway, so glad yall like it. I'm also so thankful Jackie thought of me and gave me an opportunity to stay in the writing game. I miss you guys!

Hey Jackie,
I don't mean to sound like an echo of the other comments, but I too think this is a beautiful song. I love the Dandelion wishes part. I am struggling with "liking" the "butterfly kisses" because of the other "Butterfly kisses" song by Bob Carlisle from a few years back. When I saw this in your title I found myself guessing to a certain degree of accuracy what the song was going to be about..."parent/child reflecting, deflecting, introspecting..." and though you certainly wrote it most brilliantly, that is in a sense what happened.
Is there a line that is more unique than "Butterfly Kisses" that you might consider? Am I just being an old fuddy-duddy and totally missing the brilliance of this song?
What about "Dandelion Wishes With Little Miss Britches?" and totally make this unique? Okay, so maybe not that title, but some other phrasing that would be uniquely yours, yet universally appealing?
What I meant to say is that I really liked your song!

Nice ...maybe switch the order of lines in V1 so you get more of the context earlier
Well it wasn't that long ago She was a little girl to hold Now she's a mommy and teacher A lover unselfish keeper
She was mommy's little helper I fell in love The first time I felt her so alive She kicked me in my right side

Hi Jackie,
Terrill mirrored my thoughts exactly, but he said it more eloquently than I could have! This is a beautiful song, very nicely written and performed, but "butterfly kisses," used in this way, will always take me back to Bob Carlisle's song!

Jackie,
I was aware of the famous "butterfly kisses," song, but it's been awhile and I'm not sure especially leading with "Dandelion wishes," that you can't get away with it--it actually may get you more attention. If you think that it is a problem, you could substitute "Eskimo Kisses," (nose rubbing kisses) as I think that is really more of a common affectionate gesture used in our culture with little kids growing up, especially small kids. What do you think Lisa-Mona-Lisa?

I'd vote for "Eskimo Kisses" Gals...Carlile's "BK" 1997 Hit won both Dove Award and "Best Country Song" Grammy.
Nice Co-(Great to see Caroline here again) & Fine Demo from Heather.
Good Luck with it! Best Wishes & Big Hugs, Stan

Nope, not changing the dandelions! Nope! Read my lips. Not gonna do it!
Why? When Jackie sent this to me I immediately remembered being at the park as a kid, blowing the dandelions and yes, making wishes! So, she can change it if she wants but I love it! I've had a lot of drama and bad stuff going on, happy childhood memories are meaning a lot right now

I agree...I love the Dandelions. I also thought about the eskimo kisses while writing but I like the dandelion and butterfly version better because they go together. And the other Butterfly song is awesome but I do not feel there can't be another song with butterfly kisses, for example think of how many songs there are about cheating
Things will get better.... Hang in there Caroline!!

Such a lovely tribute to the precious cargo your carried for nine months, and then cherished forever. We relive our childhood through our children, making wishes on dandelion puffs, and showing thme how tender a butterfly can be, and they in turn pass on the legacies to their children. ~~Matt

Jackie, My vote is to keep it as it is. My 6yr old and 2yr old grandkids were blowing dandelions just yesterday. When my daughter was a couple years old oh so long ago I would give her butterfly kisses and she'd giggle. Very nice.
