Hey Richard, Nice tune, enjoyed the listen. One nit: the first four lines give no indication that he's in a bar. If you take these lines away from the lyric...
Yeah, walked in tonight in a bad mood I was sportin’ me an attitude Hundred million things were on my mind Needed me a break had to unwind
...he could just as easily be talking about walking into his house, a second or third shift job, or practically any place possible to go at night).
So let's put him in the bar:
Yeah, walked in the bar in a bad mood I was sportin’ me an attitude Hundred million things were on my mind Needed me a break had to unwind

I knew he was in a bar after the first line -- pretty straight forward. A lot of times lyrics need to read in context of the music, not as standalone words. Once you know the tune they go to, then lyric analysis makes more sense. It is all about the ebb and flow of the words.
Pretty good demo!

Great song production. I like your vocal tone quite well. I like when you said "you got it, beer," that broke the pattern a bit. You might consider breaking that pattern again after the "longneck, a can, a frosty mug," line to say "beer" differently there than you have said it in the two previous ways that are getting predictable. Like maybe in a question--Beer? Then at the the song's end, abandon the established pause and go right into "Let's have another beer," holding that note a little longer. By breaking the pattern just those two times, it would help keep the humor of those lines from getting "old hat."
I absolutely love the song Richard, you have the main ingredients well established with this song. Good luck with it. Maybe you shoud pitch this one to the large brewery companies--you got me thirsty! steady-eddie.

Hi Richard,
Usually when a one word hook works, it works in a big way. This is no exception.
Great production, maybe you need one sample of all your friends in your local bar saying beer simultaneously, at the very end of the song.
I might have written it a little different, maybe with a bridge of all the different types of beer, but no matter, this is fun, and it sounds radio friendly as is.
Mike

As far as I'm concerned, a great drinking song is always welcome and this is an awesome one. Loved it the entire way through and you have a great opening two lines to your chorus that I'm still not tired of hearing. This Gatorhole sounds like one helluva good studio because this track rocks all the way through. Very nice.

IMO this is pretty commercial Richard. It's a party tune w/ a pretty perfect marriage between music and words. Really well done.
I wonder about the 'George Strait' reference. His last 2 #1 hits were 'River of Love' and 'I saw God Today', neither of which are party songs. I'm not sure the younger listener would associate GS w/ partying?
Regardless, it's a really good tune w/ a lot of potential. All the best w/ this!
Peace,
Ian

His reputation is firmly associated w/ drinking! Or Garth Brooks - who probably has the #1 drinking song of all time? Or how about the word 'lampshade' which references another famous tune? WET BLANKET ALERT! (I absolutely get this song, and did all the toe tappin' and dashboard drumming that goes along with it...)
However...
Being someone who was impacted by a drunk driver, the last verse has me concerned...Is there anyway or any reason to consider changing that up a bit?
--------- Well I guess it’s time, head for the door Last call is over can’t buy no more Let’s head to my truck, get outta here Take my keys, I'll get the….BEER!!!

Richard,
Great song with a lot of commercial appeal. The production is REALLY good. Just nice to hear a PRO sound with a very well thought out song that is really fun too.
Nice one. Nothing I could add would make this any better for sure!

Scotty, I wondered how I missed this one. Then I looked at the posting date. Last May! That explains it. I was off the boards for most of the summer.
This one has got the contemporary country sound. A good professional demo and singer. It's about time we had a tribute song to the great American drink. Those lyrics reminded me of bygone days when I patronized the local watering holes. You could have been writing about me, especially when you got to the part about the call from home! Pour yourself a cold one. You earned it.

Terrill, thanks for the listen and comment. In NO way am I condoning drunk driving, they are just convening in the parking lot after the bar closed to have another beer? Sure don't mean for my song to come across like that to anyone. Thanks for the listen dude!! :))))) scotty
