The 42,000 number is interesting!
Most of the folks I know here are on the top 100 posters list. If there were 42,000 submissions for the awards, the awards would seem to be statistically separate from this community and vice versa.
Ain't that the truth! It's hard to remember sometimes, but given the size of JPF membership, I'd be surprised if even 1% post on the forum. The truth is, most working musicians are too busy to keep up with a message board like this. As valuable as online critiques can be, there is nothing more valuable to me than the kind of feedback you get on-the-spot from other people--be they audiences, collaborators, recording engineers, sound board operators, bar owners or kids. most of Us posters -- have day jobs or work at home and access to our computers to check in -- or are unemployed and can be here.... : ) 42ooo CDs now there's a Library of Free music !
