Nice read, red!
To me it seems publisher nights like that are more just events, set up to entertain, than real opportunities. But good events to be learned from, of course. Just not really opportunities to get songs though the needles eye.
Why would a publisher worth a dang listen to outside writers songs, when they at any given time are fed by their own writers and at any given time can attend a writers night where a-team songwriters like Craig Wiseman, Jeffrey Steele, Rivers Rutherford, Bob DiPiero, Dave Pahanish, MAB and the bunch, with proven track records for market insight, plays their freshly penned hit songs?
Not to pick up songs, for sure, like the publisher said, up front..
