Most days you can find her alone on the playground Fidgety hands stuffed in her pockets and her head hanging down The bangs in her eyes remain her cover hiding the pain inside She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders unable to confide She is starving for the attention that has been deprived from her since birth She is starving for love and affection to feed her sense of worth. She's learned to duck and cover Shes learned to bite her tongue She's learned to stand there and take it until the lashings are done She's learned to hold back tears She's learned to wear the shame She's learned if there's ever a problem then she is the one to blame She's learned to hide her bruises She's learned not to wince with pain She's learned to depend solely on herself the only thing that keeps her sane She is starving for the attention that has been deprived of her since birth She is starving for love and affection to feed her sense of worth.

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
