These things are kinda fun to discuss. But, in the end, I couldn't really support the idea of changing the way we vote. Lack of income doesn't necessarily imply lack of wisdom. And, even if it did, I'd hesitate because of the law of unintended consequences. smile

I sympathize with your main complaint though. The fact is, it is too easy to spend other people's money. I've seen it many times in many different people - even those I would have thought would have been immune to it. Problem is, I think it's human nature.

I think a flat tax is the way to go, as long, as Mike indicated, there is a floor at the cost of living. Our current tax code seems to be based on attempts to do social engineering. I remember very well being annoyed when I was a renter that homeowners got such a nice tax break on their interest.

Of course I gladly accepted it when I became a homeowner. grin
