I was contacted by a friend of my wife's and asked if I could round up some acoustic music for a charity fundraiser. The fundraisers are a group of women who meet monthly, chip in a substantial amount of money, have a party and contribute to a local charity, in this case the Children's Dream Fund.
I asked my buddy whether he wanted to do a Blue Island Beer Club performance, plus I asked two young female singer/songwriter friends if they would like to perform. Everybody said yes, and last night was the event.
It was a success story in a lot of ways. First, it felt good to help raise money for the charity. Second, it was a lot of fun to play with my friends for a bunch of women at a beautiful waterfront house, where we overlooked the pool and Boca Ciega Bay. And third, we were approached by two different guests about future playing opportunities, including one who is connected to a Nashville publisher that places background/soundtrack music.
I am glad we did it!
