Hey, Marty,

I enjoyed your set with Jim, Bruce, and guest Katy! Bishop's is a nice little place to see a musical combo such as yours, and you guys are a good group (with and without Katy).

Jim and I have known each other for almost 11 years through Demo Exchange. He did indicate he'd send me something from what you guys have been doing for a DX compilation I'm coordinating.

Musically, I've been playing (mostly keys, a little guitar, and mostly harmonies with several lead vocals) in a classic rock cover band (The One Eyed Jacks) for over a year. We've recently gone through a rearrangment; our main lead guitarist shifted to drums, our secondary lead guitar player becoming the main one, and now I will play a lot more guitar, including several lead parts. Our first practice with this lineup went pretty well. I need to brush up on these lead parts and learn to turn up & down volume appropriately, among other things, when switching from rhythm to lead and vice versa, something I've never really done before.

My songwriting has been fairly slow since joining the group (though it had gotten slower for a while before then too), though I recently wrote a song for a contest. I recorded it before knowing what the precise rules were and then had to cut out about 40 seconds, which I did by editing the mixdown (chop some of the intro and outro and remove the instrumental ("solo").
