A friend of mine uses Audacity to record all of his music, usually using 9 or 10 tracks. He's running the version on Linux though, so not sure if there's a difference between the Linux version and the Windows version. I use Audacity for quick recording when i'm too impatient for Cubase to load and also to convert my tracks down to MP3s and sometimes also to edit some tracks, or try out an effect or something. It's a great program
