Niteshift, good points. Only reason I haven't asked myself what "Worthy Cause No. 54" is is I'm pretty sure they're not going to want my song for the "rejects" record, either. I do get the impression they're about full up with really good stuff.

An idea I've promoted elsewhere--and hope that someday, somebody'll take me up on--is assembling a group of writer-musicians and having them perform collectively, either as a group or in small groups, each other's material. Share production costs, and everybody'd get a share of the resulting CDs to sell or otherwise distribute any way they wanted to. Everybody on the CD would theoretically be interested in pushing the record as far as they could, because *they're* on it--but in the process, they'd be promoting everybody else, too.

Nope, haven't tried it yet. I might be able to do it with our Friday Night Group (2 dozen musicians, roughly)--we've talked about putting out a CD as a benefit for the local high school's music program, and we do have some money saved up, and there is a local studio dude who'd do the work cheap. I think the idea would work long distance, too, with musicians in various quarters of the globe e-mailing their parts to a mixer-person who'd put it all together.

Sorry--didn't mean to hijack this thread. I'll give it back now.
