Hmmm... not a stupid idea, but I can see some logistical problems, including things like needing master releases from musicians & singers on demos; the fact that broadcast quality demos were not required for the contest; the fact that someone has to master the CD, do the artwork, manufacture copies... and someone has to pay for all that. Never mind the issue of licencing and royalties.... assuming submittees want their work to be included on a compilation CD... and who will get the revenue from the sales...
not trying to be a grouch, just thinking out loud about the tasks involved in producing a decent CD.
