Hey Brian, have you considered switching to Drupal? It's opensource and it ROCKS. I've set up like 15 sites on it and would gladly pitch in to help you convert. It has tremendous momentum right now in higher ed and over 6000 sites are running on it worldwide including some pretty giant ones like theonion.com I believe.
