A publisher who represents songs for sync licensing shared their policy regarding AI:
Based on the current copyright office report, we can only represent songs that have entirely human-created lyrics and human-created melodies! When pitching songs to our company, you must disclose any use of AI in the creation of a song (lyrics or melody), or if you used AI in the production of the recording, vocals, etc.
1.) If you wrote both the lyrics and the melody but used AI for demo purposes, you may present it for song review purposes only. If we are interested in pitching the song for sync licensing, it must be professionally re-recorded for broadcast and sent back to us for final approval.
2.) If a song is being pitched for another artist to record, and we think the AI demo is appropriate, we can pitch it as is.
In my experience, these guidelines are typical for sync licensing agencies.
