I focus on the song segments... V-Ch-Br-Solo... Generally, you only need 4-5 different pattern loops to create a song. The rest is just fills and accents.

What I find difficult about "only" using presets is that they're all in a different style/swing/intensity. They generally don't mix well when you just "string them together."

Yeah and the hits are heavier or lighter.

You can buy a whole program of just generic beats, literally thousands of them, then through the m into the kit.
