I always considered the piano the ideal instrument for composers/songwriters. I asked AI that very question, and this is what she had to say:

For composers, the piano/keyboard is often considered the best instrument to learn. It provides a broad range of notes and chords, making it ideal for exploring melodies, harmonies, and rhythms. It also serves as a great tool for understanding music theory, ear training, and developing musical ideas. While other instruments like guitar can be beneficial, the piano's ability to play multiple notes simultaneously and its direct connection to music theory make it a strong choice.

She? Don't forget it is software and there is ZERO intelligence. Just data. And a lot of the data is nonsense. It will actually quote random unverified reddit posts as fact. It can't even get sports results correct and will literally just make up fake stats and results.

In this case, it is spilling correct data. Keyboards today are the gateway to making music due to the ease of connectivity to technology. It is why I chose piano over guitar. I found piano much easier in the first place, but this was at the dawn of midi and opened the world of all instrument sounds. Back then many music people scoffed at synths in much the same misguided way they attack A.I. now. Since the dawn of midi, computer made music has been with us with the keyboard as the easiest gateway. The only downside back then was portability. It wasn't easy to take it to the beach and serenade your girlfriend. (But I did take my keyboards out to Lake Michigan where there was a plug and I could play with people out there during my years in Chicago.
