Most of the folks I know here are on the top 100 posters list. If there were 42,000 submissions for the awards, the awards would seem to be statistically separate from this community and vice versa.

It's hard to remember sometimes, but given the size of JPF membership, I'd be surprised if even 1% post on the forum. The truth is, most working musicians are too busy to keep up with a message board like this.

As valuable as online critiques can be, there is nothing more valuable to me than the kind of feedback you get on-the-spot from other people--be they audiences, collaborators, recording engineers, sound board operators, bar owners or kids.
