I'm not a big country music fan, tho' I actually like some of the more fringe-based country stuff (Wilco, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, et al). But, well, I agree that playing Uncle Kracker, a guy who's day job is supporting Kid Rock on the turntables, on country music stations is REALLY stretching it.

To me, Shania Twain, and now, Faith Hill are NOT country. Shania, esp. should no longer be considered country. Not that what she does should be vilified. But not labeled country.

OTOH, what do you think of Johnny Cash's cover of a Nine Inch Nails tune being played on CMT. I thought it was pretty cool, but traditionalists may not have felt that way.
