Is there any technique to coming up with near rhymes? I recently rhymed sheriff/parish and it worked well. In a rhyming dictionary, you can find rhymes but as for near rhymes, I wonder if anyone has come up with any technique.

Try working with the very last portion of the words, say you were working with "last" Perfect rhymes are -fast- mast, blast etc.But if look for hyme that are close, you get words that end in end sound of: ask,as,abs,lass,ads,ats, east,etc
Another way is consonance:last= list, lust, list,loot and any wrds that rhyme wth them.
The Songwriters Idea Book by Shelis Davis prints a chart on page 5 about near rhymes.

There are some rhyming dictionaries that list near rhymes. I had a computer rhymer once that did so, but I lost the program when I upgraded my computer and was never able to reinstall it.
