Hi Everyone -- Before I got involved with this, Aaron Corley had already created the concept, music, hook, and part of the lyric. I'm delighted that he allowed me to help with this, and it ended up being quite a fun project for me!
"Rogue" is a character in a trilogy called "The X-Men." For those of you who aren't familiar with the "The X-Men," it's about humans who have developed superhuman powers. Because of this, they are feared by others, who know them as "mutants." Rogue is a beautiful woman, who is also a mutant. Rogue's power, to her dismay, is that when she touches someone, she literally drains the life from them. Of course, this is tragic when it comes to romantic love.
Anyway, before this song, I had never watched "The X-Men." When I did watch it, I was so pleasantly surprised -- and I ended up loving the Rogue character!
Once we have your feedback/comments/suggestions, the music will be posted to the MP3 forum. -- Thanks! Lisa Rogue's Song Words by Aaron Corley and Lisa Gundling; Music by Aaron Corley. © 2011 Aaron Corley and Lisa Gundling. All rights reserved.
Verse 1 When Medusa lost her beauty Her ugly gaze turned flesh to stone My reflection is still pretty Yet my touch drains men to the bone Like that monstrous Gorgon sister The strongest men could never take Memories of the pain I’ve caused Still make my heart ache
Chorus I just want to feel again Explore your kiss without end Want to know you skin-to-skin But instead I’m so afraid
Verse 2 Accepting destiny was hard Yet I pushed aside those desires ‘Til you cooled down my defenses Promising to rebuild love’s fire I fear my caress will harm you Could I be healed by your embrace? If you wrapped your arms around me We'd be tempting Fate Chorus I just want to feel again Explore your kiss without end Want to know you skin-to-skin But instead I’m so afraid
Verse 3 I woke this morning full of hope That touch will fill our future days Medusa got no second chance But for us, I have found a way When I come back to you again All our barriers will be gone My fingers will soon find your face Night will then dawn
Chorus (w/ change) I just want to feel again Explore your kiss without end Want to know you skin-to-skin Stand before you unafraid
Chorus Repeat

I maybe on the wrong track here Lisa & Aaron. Is this really saying that the lady gives or seems to receive a bad Karma with everything she touches, men, her life her luck continually running at zero? I like the imagery of that as it sounds just like me! I particularly like V3 with the hope of a new begining. I like this one it's unusual and works well. Merry Christmas to you both(I've been on the wine again this afternoon!) Travis

Hi Cindy,
Thanks for your two thumbs up! And I think that inspiration strikes each of us at a different moment and in a different way! (I had actually taken Aaron's original and added to it, and then did another version for him to consider, and then he took my two versions and blended them together.)
Thanks for your nice visit!
Lisa

Hi Travis,
Get off the wine....what are you talking about? What gives you the impression this lady has a problem? LOL!
It's actually her physical touch that saps the life out of people, so she wears gloves. She was just a normal person, and discovered her horrible power when she kissed her first boyfriend. She let go of him in time, and we learn that he went into a coma and recovered three weeks later. But if she doesn't let go in time -- then they die.
This puts a REAL damper on her love life, of course. But she falls in love with Iceman.
Naturally, Travis (you still sipping as we speak?), they stay away from each other, but succumb at one point, holding on too long. She starts sapping the life out of him, and they stop.
So, Travis (still got that drink in hand?), she learns that there is a drug that can cure her, and she takes it.
But--take a big swig now--her powers MAY return in the future....
Merry Christmas to you and I'm delighted that you like this!
Lisa

I really like the verses very strong images. The chorus isn't as strong as the verses which would make this special. The chorus needs to be huge imo. Good Job, arealrush

Hi arealrush,
Thank you for your nice, thoughtful feedback, and suggestions about the chorus. I'll discuss it with Aaron and review that issue. You have my mind churning! Once the comments are done here and it's pretty much set, Aaron is going to post the music on the mp3 forum. I think that the music makes the chorus sound really strong, and when we post it, I'd be very interested to hear what you think!
Thanks again! Lisa

Good Job, arealrush Yes, I think what Lisa has done with the verse is brilliant. I plan to post the music after Christmas. When you hear it, I think the chorus will pack a bit more punch than it does now. I want to thank the rest of you for your comments, too. I finally saw the second two X-men movies this summer and Rogue's character really made an impression on me. Even if you aren't into superhero movies, I recommend this one; the characters are well-developed and easy to sympathize with in spite of their obviously fictional natures. For me, it was especially easy to relate to Rogue. I love how Lisa ties the images from Greek mythology to those from the X-men trilogy, too. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I think sometimes we each get lonely and/or wish we were someone else. I think Lisa has conveyed that well through her lyric.

Aaron is going to post the music on the mp3 forum. I fully intended to post the music this week, but I'm having problems with my dial-up connection. I apologize for the delay. No promises, but hopefully I can get it up before the end of next week. Aaron

Hey Mackie,
Glad you like it! Aaron posted the link to the music he did for this on another thread -- which is beautifully fitting for Rogue's character!
Happy New Year to you too!

I like it Lisa, it combines classic mythology with the myths of love being so devine. I can't picture you with snakes in your hair, but your eyes could turn quite a few guys to what feels like stone...LOL~~~~MFB III

Hi MFB,
Thanks -- I'm delighted that you like this! (As for me, I put the snakes away for photos, and I protect others by never looking directly at the camera -- unless someone makes me REALLY mad...!)
