Hi DMK! Good luck with your music. Nashville is just SO AWESOME! There are lots of folks hanging out here who live there and can help advise you. As far as the fellowship, you won't run across a better bunch of folks! smile

Sandy, welcome and you're in good company! Lots of lyricists looking to collaborate, and some musicians here if they like your lyrics will be willing to put music to it. Lots of talent and support here! smile

Steve, WB! Good to have you here! smile

Gary, hope you find some folks to collab with! Good luck with your musical endeavors and IMO, take some time to make friends in the meantime...it'll lead to contacts. smile

John, welcome! Kevin Pearson is a familiar name. I'm sure I've heard at least a couple of his songs. Our MP3 boards are pretty busy! Nice to have you here and good luck with your music! smile

Hello all,

I'm JD from Essex UK. I joined JPF quite some time ago. I'll be honest and explain why I have not been active on here. Originally I really wanted to give my opinion on songs by artists on here on the MP3 section but I struggled to give my opinion because predominantly the music on here is quite folky/country and just not something I could get inspired by or give feedback on as growing up in UK folk/country was not something I ever really heard unless I visited my father who loves the stuff! Seems a little shallow and perhaps it was but my heart wasn't in it so I faded away...

But anyway, a couple of years on and I haven't found a better community than this appears to be, so I am back and I will open my ears to your music and get in on general posts and hope to be a positive member.

A little about me as it has been a while.

I've been enjoying music since I was 16 when I started to learn the guitar. I must have been destined to love music as at 18 a girl a met online in New York who told me I had a nice voice so I started singing lessons. I wanted to become famous like everyone else but I think looking back now, fear and knowledge held me back in my younger days and I did not achieve what I wanted. Having recently realised that perhaps my singing famously days are far less likely now, I came to the realisation that had I not learnt how to sing I may not have ever become a songwriter. This thought empowered me as if to say, 'don't worry James, singing was a vehicle but your songwriting is the key'. Realising that was a massive boost to me and ironically my friend and I are now going to release an album of our old work. Things is I now do that without any fear because songwriting is my primary goal now.

I'm now 31 frown lol age creeps quickly. But in that time I have learnt so much and invested my time wisely I feel.
Since I was 21 I have been co-writing with a now good friend of mine named Tim. We have a real good musical connection and balance of abilities and we feel after 10 long years we are finally writing tracks and recording tracks that are getting closer to hit making. We feel right on the edge of something, something real good. It's a nice feeling but we need to make it happen now. That is part of why I am here. To add the extra piece. I feel there is much still to learn and being in a community like this can help me.
I have already had some good advice about digital distribution and PRO's so hopefully I can return the favour to members on the board.

I look forward to speaking to you all.

For a taste of some of our older music please see my links below. I will be submitting some MP3's in future for feedback.

Thanks for reading

JD

Hi JD,

We had 100 different genres of music in the 2009 JPF Music Awards. We have the most diverse array of members making music around the world of any organization in the world. You might see more country type songs posted only because those doing other genres act just like you did and fail to post their own different genres of music. All are welcome and I would love nothing better than to have all genres represented here on the boards like they are in the membership at large. You posting is a good place to start. Others will follow.

Welcome back, JD! We ABSOLUTELY need a wider range of genres posted on the MP3 board, so please, post away. You are correct that you will get more feedback on your songs if you provide some to others, it's a give and take, so try to pick ones that at least somewhat interest you even if they're not a genre you'd normally listen to. Maybe the title grabs your eye or the lyric, but being somewhat interactive is the best way to get folks to listen to and comment on your stuff. I'll look forward to hearing you! smile

It's good to be back. So many new features and faces.

Hi all. New to the site. I'm a songwriter, I'm sure that you don't get many of those around here. grin

While I do love writing lyrics, I'm not a singer so I am always on the lookout for someone who wants to perhaps collab on songs or take a song that I have written and record/perform it. Usually when I write, a melody pops in my head first and the words follow so I do record the lyrics with the melody with a warning that I am NOT a singer, but usually, you can get through the song without wanting to claw your eardrums out. Isn't that good news? tongue

But, really... I will post one or two of my songs for critiques and hope to get some good feedback. I look forward to getting to know the community.

Hey Ya'll,
I'm Josie. Been lurking here a while. Great site. Then it dawned on me, if I'm going to be reading - why not join. smile Brief bio. Live in Louisiana from TN. Had a Billboard Recommended Country Single and a #84 Cashbox on indies which you've never heard back in the days of yore. Won a national vocal contest - dang no Idol then. smile Sang on demos, performed, and wrote songs that were praised and rejected by music's finest. Became a morning DJ on country radio and produced a local talent show for three years. Burned out and walked away from all things music, painted rocks, and wrote a book I'm polishing up. Thought I'd buried the songwriting bug but two years ago singing in a Praise band - I discovered it was still alive! So I dug it up. smile After trying so hard to kill it, I'm glad my muse is back. We spent some time in the woodshed cleaning her up and she's much more fun to be around now. smile
So here I am, hoping I can join in, have some fun, help and be helped while making some new friends with other diehards errr kindred spirits here on jpf.

Hi all,
I'm from the Nashville area. I've been active on some other forums and in other songwriting groups for awhile but I'm just now beginning to get some songs to the listening stage. I know some of the members here and I hope to get to know some new people too.

Cheryl, welcome! smile You can post songs MP3 file on the "MP3 Forum". This site is pretty much a "one-stop shopping" for all of your musical needs, as you'll see from the various forums. You won't find a friendlier group of folks either, very supportive group here! smile

Hello. I just joined, after meeting an acquaintance yesterday whom I knew from an open mic years ago. He recommended I check this out.

I'm a public school art teacher and long time singer/songwriter/performer (although, these days my wife Kim plays bass and does much of the singing.)

Although I've played in a number of different groups and settings, I currently perform mostly as an acoustic duo with my wife.
I'm in a few other online groups, but I'm looking forward to learning more about this one.

best,
Ed

hey guys!

new(ish) member here. glad to see such an active community. any new music suggestions for me? i'm talking blues, rock, alternative, etc. I'm into The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, and just got into oddly enough, Fitz & the Tantrums.

Anyone see any good bands at SXSW this year? I saw for the first time this group from Oklahoma, Taddy Porter. Not what I expected, but they rock pretty hard. Here's a vid to check out: http://bit.ly/eJajJ4

Seriously, guys. Hit me up with new suggestions! Cheers!

Are you hip to Celldweller? Or Jasmine Cain? Or maybe check out some of the 2009 JPF Award winners/finalists still posted on our site. (We only do the awards every 2 years, so there are no new ones to post yet). There's 100 different genres listed from artists around the world.

Welcome to the site,

Brian

Hi my name is Kimmie M Sharon and I tripped onto this site looking for something else dare I say checking out Danie Cortese upon request by a band which seems as if no further digging is necessary.

I would like all those out there to know that there is still good people in music and I am one of them or at least I think of myself as one.

I am a ex-pro drummer of 25 years now on the other side of the band stand doing all I can to help musicians and all industry people for that matter for free. I help regardless of genre or location however my strong suit is Rock (Hard/Heavy/Progressive)/Metal (All).

I have read many of the warnings here on this site which is for the most part true... if it seems to good to be true then it is. Beware of anyone wanting money up front those that are legit work on a percentage basis therefore only taking those that they know they can help since their income depends on it.

I am for real and there is no catch what so ever I freely help everyone for free. I can't promise anything but I do get air time, I have great connections and do my best. I am sitting on over 1000 requested reviews on ROADRUNNER that I do not have a lot of time to write.

Please check out my site and contact me if you are interested. I will say I do have a backlog of bands/artists that have already submitted and I am but one person so I will respond but it may take a bit before I can get you on the site however many times I get you on the air before I have time to get you on the site. I mean its a free service for everyone except me it cost me a fortune to run the site and I don't get much sleep but I do love what I do.

OK nice meeting you all & I wish all the artists out there all the best and those that want some visibility and help getting started stop by my site.

Wait one more thing... some may call this a catch however whatever one wants to call it is fine with me but you MUST have talent to get on the site. I do stipulate that on the site on the Submit Here page.

Thanks!

Hi Kimmie,

Welcome to JPF. As someone who gets a LOT of music (we received 42K albums and 560K songs last time we did our music awards and often received 100's of CD's per day in the mail) I suggest waiting until your caught up or close to it before soliciting even more albums from people. Sure, they'll send some to you, but you don't want to promise anything (even for free) and fail to deliver on it or take so long people think it's a trick because it can turn your good faith effort to help folks and turn everyone against you quickly. As someone who works full time for free (and doesn't take a % either) and has done it for 15 years now, this is a topic I know a great deal about.

By the way, I am very happy to have a hard rock/metal grassroots person here that wants to help others. There are not a lot of you types around. Just be sure to not over promise what you can do as 1 person (something I also understand) and be upfront at all times on what you are really offering, when someone can expect you to finish and offer full contact info so they can ask more questions directly or find you if needed. Even with 50K members, I post my full address, email, phone, website, skype, facebook and any other means someone can use to contact me when I offer a program or service to them.

Good luck,

Brian

Hi everybody!

My name is Ray Livnat and I'm a singer from Israel.

I am new in this site, so I thought the best way to introduce myself is to post my latest video and get the ball rolling:

For a While - RnL VideoSong

I'd love to know what you think!

Thanks,

Hi Ray,

Happy to have you! If by some unlikely coincidence you know a female singer-songwriter there named Aliza Hava (wonderful artist and person) tell her hi! As silly as it may seem, you'd be amazed how often people do know other artists even in a large populations. She performed at our last music awards and was in NYC for a long time before moving back to Israel.

Thanks for introducing yourself. I strongly suggest posting your video on the video section of our site for video feedback and if you want feedback on the song itself, post a link on the mp3 feedback board. We also have boards for Lyrics only.

Enjoy!

By the way, thought the video and song were both very cool. Nice work, looking forward to having you around! Great funny bit at the end. So English isn't your first language it appears, but you speak it well. Were you the one encouraging the other guy to speak in English?-Brian

Hi Comeg,

Is this Mr. Savage or one of the other band members (or someone helping the band?). Sign your name so we can get to know you. Some impressive quotes on your home page. Nice development to your sound from first to most recent album. Good work. Look forward to having you involved here. We could use some more good british rock on the boards! Have you ever crossed paths with the Hoo-Hah Conspiracy? They're one of our favorite British bands we've come across. You guys have a really current sound... I bet you'd do well over here.
