Stevie, well thank you, I listened to it about 100 times and almost didn't post it, felt like a cat stratching to me...but it was fun and for sure a hard thing to do...but I did enjoy it, my 13 year old grand son came over as I just finished and he was listneing and said man, grandma this ain't too bad..then he wanted to sing it.....but this is my song..thanks alot Stevie, makes me feel better.....glyn

I was checking out this challenge (being new here) and realized, it is no easy undertaking and I think you did GREAT!!!!
Just as it isn't easy to sing acapella, it isn't easy to sing with music and Marks's music is amazing and I am very impressed with the job you did!!!

Love it, Glyn! And thanks for being one of the brave ones!  This song was originally written to fit a lyric that was a long one...it went to a lot of places before coming back around. So now that you have music and no lyric, I understand how maddening this track can be...you want it to stop and resolve itself faster, but it keeps going somewhere else, doh!  But hey, this is what I wanted to put out there--an opportunity to wrestle with a "finished" backing track...it's sort of like doing a crossword puzzle, isn't it? Good stuff, Glyn--thank you!

Hey Glynda, Good onya girl ! Another "non-vocalist" hits the mic. Yay ! Pitch and phrasing wise, it works really well. Watta mean you can't sing ? ! I really like the the metre and how it fits the song. It needs to be wordy, to carry the song along, and give some interest. Cool stuff ! Another set of vocal chords out of the closet.  cheers, niteshift PS - the recording/mix is a bit scratchy. If you have the isolated vocal track, I'd be happy to clean it up and pop it back into the backing. Just email me.

& the melody your laid down over the chords with the vocals is

Yeah, mine too. My daughter came home from school, walking to our house, and apparantly my warbling could be heard outside on the street. That is of course, with no music, as it's going through the cans. Haven't seen my cat for 2 days. Sorry you don't have the vocal track. Never mind, you need to keep this one for posterity. ( and prosperity ) Try saying that after a couple of beers.  Honestly, your voice is on pitch, and your phrasing s spot on. Hey Glynda!!
It seems I missed a real fun challenge here, courtesy of Mark....but how cool is this? I now get to hear a bunch of different interpretations to the same backing track.
Yours is especially meaningful, because I know how much effort you've put into your music. I'm happy too that you've continued with the singing. There is a wonderful aching sadness to your vocal, which makes the lyric that much more haunting.
While I think the topic itself is a familiar one, you put enough of a lyrical spin on it to make it "your own". Your attention to details is wonderful, and I enjoyed how you set up the mood so well in the opening chorus. Of course, I'm curious why he went away in the first place -- would love to hear a pre-quel.
Keep up the good work Glynda. You have made remarkable strides in your songwriting...and given some of the distractions you've had outside of the music, you should be very proud of yourself.

...he wasn't the same man she married, he turned out to be not what she thought he was, and they went there separate ways and she never got to tell him how she felt... then again maybe they weren't married, just were together then she realized he wasn't who she thought he was, she had him so built up in her mind and heart and he wasn't that person...and until this she never got him out of her system..and after this she did and was able to take a deep breath and go on and not hurt anymore over him...so then she told him to leave....and her heart was set free...
I always try to put myself in this person's place and try to feel how they would feel...and on this one, I feel i did.
