This is my first post here, but I've been writing songs for a looooong time. I only forgot to share them. Written near the end of my second marriage, the music to "Grenadine" is understandably melancholy but the lyrics, which are slighty psychedelicized, describe a deep abiding love, one of mutual respect and reciprocation. In other words, what I ultimately couldn't find with #2. It's kind of a baroque waltz. Grenadine You are here So am I And the time is now All the day's work is done Wipe the sweat from my brow Spin me a crimson tune On your color wheel Weave me a world without fear Our love will make it real Oh! Don't let me drown in that dirty ol' river I'm not ready for "Goodnight Irene" Life's liquor is bitter You make it better Like a splash of grenadine Gre-na-dine Gre-na-dine Time has loosened it's grip On our well-worn heels Let's speak of blessings and boons Until we're fit to spill I'll sing you a blanket of stars To warm your milky skin I'll guard the door while you dream 'til Sun returns again And I know you won't let me drown in that dirty ol' river I'm not ready for "Goodnight Irene" Life's liquor is bitter You make it better Like a splash of grenadine Gre-na-dine Gre-na-dine Gre-na-dine Gre-na-dine

Love the line "Splash of grenadine" ... especially the twist of the tune/chord at "grenadine".
Nice song ... production could have been better ... maybe too much reverb?
Still I enjoyed your piece.

John,
Welcome to JPF! Hope you enjoy your time here. I've enjoyed all 9 years since I first signed on in 2001.
Very nice, smooth vocals and equally good writing. The production/arrangement reminded me of early to mid 70s. Nice song, cut and performance.

I think this is pretty good. Some work on the vocal effects and fixing the few 'plosives here and there would be a pretty easy improvements production-wise, I think. Excellent first tune to post here!
