Hey Michele & Stan,
This is bouncy fun! I think you do a real nice job singing, Michele! And I can hear it with more attitude as well…cuz she's OVER it, ya know...she's free...she is f r e e!
Love this line: “This bird talks more to me..It's true!”
I really enjoyed the guitar and piano solo there near the end too!
Have fun with it!
Kristi

Hi again Nadia! Nah, you didn't upset this Aussie girl at all, I thought what you said was very complimentary. As to me going back to the garage, I practice singing my songs in the garage. After the great feed back here, I absolutely agree with what they are saying, I can do this better, I need to go a bit higher, and then I reckon I will Nail this song, I just love singing it, and it's so much fun. So thanks Nadia, wait for the next recording hah. Hugs Michele

Hi Kristi We are all pleased you like it, so thanks hah. I'm gonna give this another shot, go up in Key, sing it like "Don't push my button", Mike and crew has given me good advice here, so I will speak to Rodney about it tonight, and I will practice it over the next couple of weeks, and see how I go. I like that line too Kristi, gotta go now. Going to work with my brother today, selling ice creams. Hugs Michele

HIdee MZ Nadia!
I don't think Michele was offended..I know I am THRILLED to hear all the Positive Feedback on this one...AND..getting ANY song into a Movie..IS a definite "PLUS".
This song's a super "Survivor" kinda song...& right-off-the-bat I liked Michele's Hook..& the taking-the-Cockatoo-along in the storyline. I deliberately kept the re-write IN the Aussie Mindset...(Knowing Michele's got a FINE Aussi Accent..& Attitude, too!) &..an "Errant Hubbie" kinda deserves to end up sleeping (& hoppin'-around) with The Kangaroos. (Which Rhymed SO-perfectly with "Cockatoo"..too!)
"Hats-Off" to Michele for giving the Vocals Yet-Another-Try...(&..OK, I'll agree with Sub..keyed-higher she'll sound even-better!) (But she's ALREADY Kickin' Some Serious BUTT in this Take...JMO!)
&...It's great Fun watchin' Michele making this Great Song of Hers WORK. Thank YOU for giving her some Good Hopes for Where This Song WILL Work..(& yep..for sure a lot of different Movies CAN use "a Good Survivor's Song"...). (I'm also a Road Movie Fan...& LOVE any good excuse to Travel, too!)
Thanks Again for Your Kind Visit, M'LadyChum!' Big Hugs & Best Wishes, Stan

This is coming along nicely. Lively music and good melody and lyrics.
I think a couple of notes in the verse are too low for you. You may want to modify the melody a bit or bump the key up a couple of steps. Maybe your producer can change the key in the software without having to re-record the whole song. Also, be sure to enunciate the lyrics so they can be clearly understood - the audience needs to hear them!
I know the final version be great!

Great easy feeling and movement. Nice laid back driving. Nice tone to the vocals. The instrumentation is just right - not overdone. Works with the vocals.

HiDee Mz Michele (& Congrats..Again!)
OK..all about "Road Movies" today: It's a Genre of Films where the central character(s) are in-essence Traveling (Usually in a Strange, Foreign Environment) and encounter Challenge-after-Challenge en-route to their Fate. Usually, but not always, a Happy Ending...after LOTS of Trials & Tribulations.
One of the Ultimate Ones CAME from Australia..."The Road Warrior"..in 1982..& got Mel Gibson's career launched.
The "Classics" came from "Road to Monaco"..& "..to Zanzibar".."..to Singapore".."to Utopia"..starring Bing Crosby & Bob Hope..et al. Lots of Foreign Intrigue & Shenanigans...on the road TO somewhere.
Some other Great "Road" Movies: "The Blues Brothers"..(On "A Mission from God", 2 bros re-group their band & set out On The Road to raise Loot for an Orphanage.)
"Borat"..Sacha Baron Cohen as an immigrant who comes to the US to do a Documentary Film..& gets sidetracked wantin' to canoodle with Pamela Sue Anderson...
"Easy Rider"..the '60's Viewing of America via 2 Biker Bros puttin' their Rubber on The Road...
"Rain Man"..Tom Cruise & Dustin Hoffman get brotherly en route to Vegas...
"Thelma & Louise"...and "Wizard of Oz"..(Surprise!) are also Classic "Road Movies."
There's a famous "Road SONG" inspired by a Rudyard Kipling Poem, "Mandalay"...which Sinatra Sang on his "Come Fly With Me" album. Google "Road to Mandalay" & you can hear it/see the U-Tube Video, too. (Then Google "Oley Speaks"..who sold 1 Million Copies of his song...back in 1907..way BEFORE Sinatra's Time!~)
Guess I better mention Willie Nelson's "On The Road Again" too..& Eddie Rabbitt's "Drivin' My Life Away"..Ricky Nelson's "Travellin' Man"..etc.
Travel...It's Where-It's-At..in Movies..&..In Song! Best Wishes & Big Hugs, M'LadyChum! Stan (Still Stuck in Tampa..heh!) ;-)>

Hi Al Thanks for the lovely compliments, I think I'm doing just fine for someone who only started singing in 2006, but I still got a long ways to go hah, I'll get their though, cause I really like this song, it has a fun twist, and I feel when this is finished, it will be worth all the hard work that we've put into it hey. Big hugs Michele

Hi Colin Thanks for the feedback, I did speak to my producer yesterday, and he was a bit shocked regarding changing the key, he said, Michele, you have a lovely voice, you remind me of Chrissy Amphlet, who has a very similar voice, he didn't agree in changing the key, but said he would if I wanted him too. It would be a full days work, so I'm currently waiting to here back from a special friend, an Artist that I speak too on the net, she is a singing teacher also, so I will decide after I speak to her about it. Maybe I just need to sing it better in the verses, hmm, not sure, I can get the verses higher, but then I struggle with going up in the choruses, so I'm a little confused about which way to go now. Hugs Michele

Rather interesting to foææow this one(-: You are improving on the vocal side. In MHO it rarely pays of to change key using software. A long discusion I know, but that's just my oppinion. Work on it like you do now. Ken

Michele changing key is no big deal and for a demo it should be easy. I have decent software than can produce a pretty good keychange. You just leave the drums as they are and change everything else on the other tracks....one or two steps is OK...much more can produce undesired results but OK for a trial to see if it suits your voice. I do not think it is a days work especially if it was done using mainly MIDI or plugins. Most studios using decent software should have capabilities to alter keys easily and quickly.

Hi Ken Thanks for your advice, and for following our song, we really appreciate it. Hi Jim We appreciate your advice, I will print the posts out and show Rodney next week. I'm also waiting to here back from a friend of mine to see what she says also. I will keep you all posted, what we decide. Hmm, I'm off to bed now, it's midnight here in Aussie land, I just finished cooking, I made 30 butterfly cup cakes, and Iced another 30, so I'm exhausted. Hugs Michele

Hi Tom Oh golly gosh, I hope it doesn't make you drive too fast, this Aussie girl wouldn't like it if you got booked for speeding, LOL. Thanks for listening, and we are very pleased you like it. We haven't finished this yet, so keep watch for the finished version, but that won't happen until next year now. Take care, hugs Michele

Hi Jim Just seeing if I get this box working, and I want to ask you a question, okay, what is MIDI, or plugins???? This Aussie girl doesn't understand, so I thought I'd come back and ask hey. Rodney said it will take him a full day to change the key, Rodney played every track on this song, he used different guitars, that's his vocal on the harmonies, he also clapped, played the piano, the drums, and the tambourine. What was even better, I was sitting their watching him do it, Wow, amazing. Rodney said that he won't have to change the drums, but everything else he will have to re-do. Things are pretty busy here at the moment, with Christmas coming, school holidays next week, we won't be doing anymore now, until next year, so will work on it then. Back in a couple of days, thanks for all your good advice JIM. EDIT, YIPEE, I got it MIKE CARO, thanks. Now I know how you all put those boxes around posts, I can do it now hah. Hugs Michele

Hi Michelle,
I'm new to this site but I thought I'd give my opinion.
Now I'm not big into country but the song has a nice feel & fun chorus with great lyrics so well done.
I'm a singer so I'll give you my thoughts on the vocal. I don't know if it's an accent thing but I actually felt that although a little bit nasally like others have said the main thing was you sounded sometimes like you were mumbling or slurring your words as if you weren't opening up your mouth enough to get the words out. If you agree try to be conscious of opening your mouth that bit wider when singing.
Well structured song & great fun.
Cheers
Jim

Whoa, nice little rocker ya have going here. Think about a key change to bring your voice out more in the verses. Sounds a bit too low. Ya want it to be a screamer!
Nice song, though. Iggy likes what you do!

Jim Hi James Thanks for your good advice. I am looking at taking it up in key, but that won't happen until next year now, way too busy here at the moment, it's nearly Christmas, and everything just seems to go crazy. Taking the kids camping in a few days, looking forward to having some fun. So look out for the next take hah, and I promise I will open my mouth wider, I've been practicing. Hugs Michele

Nice song, though. Iggy likes what you do! Hi Iggy So nice to hear from you, how's your wife going now??? I hope everything is getting better. Thanks for your lovely comments, I am working on improving my vocal on this song, it's an absolute Hoot singing it, fun, I'm hooked, so next year we will take it up in key, and I'm pretty determined to bring this song up to the level it should be, watch out for it. You take care now, extra hugs for you and your lovely wife. Lv Michele
