None, cuz they're all pale shadows of the people who influenced them. {Another "crumudgeon" moment.} WHOO HOO!

Jeff Bates reminds me a bit of Conway Twitty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D75CJ8S3PtcIf I think of any others, I'll get back to you.

Josh Turner- Johnny Cash
Montgomery Gentry- Lynyrd Skynyrd
Jason Aldeen- Aerosmith
Rascal Flatts- Journey
Kenny Chesney- Jimmy Buffett
Darius Rucker- Hootie and the Blowfish
There is always a common thread that runs through artists and who they are influenced by.

Kenny Chesney reminds me of Minnie Pearl. I think it's the hat.

Darius Rucker IS Hootie and the Blowfish. That is the joke.
Don't forget Van Zant. They sound like 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Wait a minute. They ARE 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Hey, here's another one for you guys from a few years back.
The Folksmen and Spinal Tap.

Never heard any Amos Lee, but since Van the man was mentioned, I had to listen. He sounds real, real good.

Marc--if you are speaking of my comment..I know Hootie and Darius are the same guy. ..been loving their music for years and now his as an independant singer...:) His new country album has some impressive stuff on it..I wanted to see him recently in Greensboro, but I couldnt cough up 150 bucks for me and my hubby to go... my cousin went, said it was one of the best shows he has ever seen...and he has been to many.

Amen Brother Brian.
Kimberly. Glad you knew about Darius/Hootie. You would be amazed at how many people don't know that. I actually heard someone say one time "That guy looks and sounds JUST like that Hootie guy!" They didn't even realize it. I have a lot of fun with those people. I spend a lot of time convincing them that I have cuts on the "new Duet CD" by Marilyn and Charles Manson.
That's another one of my favorites. I like to see who is paying attention. Sure is nice to see something about music on here.

Kim,
The Folksmen and Spinal Tap are the same guys. They are the actors Harry Shearer (The Simpsons), Christopher Guest, Actor and of This is Spinal Tap and other movies and the Spoof movies "Mighty Wind (the Folksmen) and Micheal McKean (Lenny, from Lenny and Squiqqy on "Laverne and Shirley") They have done a series of spoof "Documentaries" about music, acting, dog shows, etc.
It is all a bit of a joke.

Take a listen to an alternative or college radio station. To me, it's hard to find one Alternative, Indie Rock or Modern Rock song that doesn't hearken back DIRECTLY to a previous influence from the 60's, 70's or 80's.
There is great creativity going on in these genres, and the old sounds are being expanded upon in very cool ways...but when we keep advising NOT to sound reminiscent of anything older, I have to scratch my head. The fact is, if you're in a band, it's probably to your advantage to sound a little reminiscent of something older and familiar--provided you take it further and put your own stamp on it. Modern Rock, at present, is a very nostalgic genre.
