I probably wouldn't qualify because I am a lyricist only. But am interested in hearing what local entertainers have to offer. The economy may be affecting things somewhat, because that's usually the first thing to get cut during tough times, although the big names will still sell out. You would think things like this would be popular with those who feel they now have to give a wide berth to expensive forms of entertainment.
Would love to find places locally where I can read some of my lyrics. Back in the 1990's there were a lot of coffee shops which featured such gigs, but believe they got pretty well wiped out when Starbucks popped up nearly everywhere. Was bummed out by this myself, as I have become more anti-corporate as of late, at least anti-corporate excess.
Please advise if you know any good ones. I live in Villa Park, a western suburb.

Herbie:
Will keep this in mind. Never heard of place before, but it is not far from the local Borders. Speaking of which, they did a lot of music and some spoken word when they first opened up, but have since cut back severely on it.
