“Almost An Angel” (slow country)
(Intro chorus) She’s almost an angel..... yet to earn her wings..... and I’ve been waitin for her ......in my ev’ry dream
Ev’ry night when I close my eyes there she is again that image without a face taking my world for a spin
I’ve seen that image in my head of someone I can’t describe a picture of.… my unseen love that hasn’t yet arr-ived
(Full chorus) She’s almost an angel..... yet to earn her wings..... and I’ve been waitin for her ......in my ev’ry dream She’s more than an image........... or a fac-sim-ile..... she’s almost an angel ......sweet heaven to me......
Then I a--wake out-ta breath breathin heavily for air I’ve been sent a sign to come of what’s waitin for me there
Maybe when I can dream again she’ll be revealed to me then I’ll see the hidden face of my angel yet to be
(Full chorus) She’s almost an angel..... yet to earn her wings..... and I’ve been waitin for her ......in my ev’ry dream She’s more than an image...........or a fac-sim-ile..... she’s almost an angel ...... sweet heaven to me......
Ev’ry face and ev’ry place I’ll wonder if it’s she I look but don’t say a word I’m waitin so patient-ly
When I find out who she is then my heart will know she’ll gain her wings from my dreams and away we will go
(Full chorus) She’s almost an angel..... yet to earn her wings..... and I’ve been waitin for her ......in my ev’ry dream She’s more than an image...........or a fac-sim-ile..... she’s almost an angel ...... sweet heaven to me......

+ Another thumbs up here. Found the flow in this one beautiful and the story behind the situation great. Don't know about the use of "fac-sim-ile" for the rhyme with "me" I love how it stands out but not sure how it sings. Doesn't roll off of the tongue easily IMO. Either or it doesn't take way anything from the lyric. Doug

Gary, what I like most about this is his feeling as if he's being patient yet it's the only thing on his mnd. That internal incongruence makes it click for me. Depending on the music this could be old fashioned or new fangled. Could be rock, country, or cross over. Could even be pop.
You might be wise to leave the music to the composers on this one.
Universal for every generation. Is that redundant?
have fun, John

Gary, composers feel for their works like lyrisists feel for theirs but this one would be really cool to hear done several different ways.
As an exercise for the challenge board it could be very ear opening.
It really is a good lyric.
