Just wanted to add that I've listened several times and it grew on me. At first I thought the link was not working when the Russian kicked-in. Then I read some of the posts and I thought OK.. Then I listened a few more times and thought, coool.
I think you should do an extended club/dance mix of this with JM doing a vocal, singing in select parts (or perhaps even having some of the singin' ladies on JPF all do a vocal, like the heys..) I also think a club mix would sound cool with a music break using your Russian spoken word part..like maybe you could take one of the verses from the song (whatever works rhythmically in Russian, but, "good girls and bad boys all share the same toys" would probably be best, like Beck does in his Loser song..just repeats in Spanish what he says in English) and have that repeated over and over in the music break.
OK - I'll shut-up and slither away...just some thoughts. This is what happens when the girl gets outside her box. Keep or sweep.. I don't know how to say that in Russian.
Oh, and did I say I like this? Great job to all!

Hey Mike, I had read earlier on the thread about how you went about creating and translating the opening sequence. Still, WAY COOL. As an aside, I simply can't believe Mark didn't recognize his name in Russian! As for "A Fish Called Wanda"....remember Kevin Kline's deadpan delivery of "Do you know you have an incredible stutter?" If truth be known Mike, it's actually one of my favorite movies. The utilization of both "High-brow" and "low-brow" comedy, a great script, and a terrific ensemble cast -- all impeccable! So "thanks for the memories", mister!! Beth Hey Beth, I kept Mark's first name in English, and, instead of making him a "cosmonaut", made him a "Kaufmanaut" ... didn't think a Russian DJ would translate a band name with an American name in it...(?) the "stutter" line was hilarious ...my favorite scene is the "tractor" scene , when Kevin Kline, feet stuck in plaster-of-paris, tries "reasoning" with Michael Palin...where did they get this stuff??? lol... see ya, Mike

Hi Magne,
Just Reaktor and Kontakt, but as you know owning Kore, Kontakt alone is a world unto itself, and generally the cost of samples is drastically falling due to the competitive market right now...
There's only a couple exceptions, imo, where "Physical Modeling" has more realistic sounding instruments, and that is Moddart's "Pianoteq" which is a 4th gen. "modeled piano"...meaning, all "math"...no samples...check out the demo...this is next on my list to buy...
And Wallander Instruments...I own the bass clarinet and trumpet, and they just came out with all the saxophones, and are basically covering all the winds...I'm talking "Physically modeled" instruments that act and sound JUST like the real thing, and are only like 20 megabyte programs!! What a great time to be alive!
Funny you say green card, I was thinking when my situation changes of moving to Europe and Producing and busking...so who knows, maybe we work together in the future!
Thanks for the nice comments, best wishes,
Mike

Hi Al, Yes, we're basically talking about two different things, so there really is no disagreement here ... I would never "pitch" this, per se, but might include it in a 5 cut CD that I'd send to labels that had similar artists on their rosters to Beck and Cornelius, both who have a "melting pot" or "pastiche" approaches to their music, incorporating anything and everything, based on "what the piece" needs...I want to take this to another level with vocals, even, and sound like "different singers", all within the same song, especially if the piece seems to warrant it... Now strangely enough, I lived in Nashville for nearly 4 years, and still have a back catalog of country tunes that I DO want to go back and pitch there, and you are absolutely right, concerning "rules" and "Nashville"...and I will need all the good advice I can get, cuz it's been over ten years since I've been there! But you know, it's all good, especially if we just enjoy being creative, and let that passion drive us, thanks for the nice compliments, Al, best wishes, Mike

Hi Paul, Garageband is the website that hosts my files, it's a little like soundclick, but it also hosts competitive contests where you enter your songs in a category, your song "goes into one on one battle" against other songs in the same category, and you either survive to the next round or not...Jerry Harrison of the "Modern Lovers" and "Talking Heads" is one of the owners. I'm on a PC and use FL Studio as my sequencer. I started 6 years ago, and had no special "genius" towards it, I just have "sticktoitiveness" I guess Thanks for the thumbs up... best wishes, Mike

Oh, and did I say I like this? Great job to all! LOL..you're funny ..oh, hi Wendy! Actually those are ALL GREAT ideas! You've got the remix spirit! I'm starting small...today "heys" tomorrow (Mike makes evil grin, goes "mwahahaha!") But I'm not buying this "I'll shut up and slither away" stuff... :o ...which begs the question, should adult "self-deprecators" use oral "Depends"? (keep)hraa NEETS (or)EE lee (sweep)myes TEE Wendy, thanks for a fun post, and I appreciate the smiles, and I'm glad you like it! Best wishes, Mike

Well since this could not have been made without my stellar contributing Heys I would like to say how much I enjoyed your production. Great fun...the first of your stuff I have heard. You got style. I like it. Let me know when the royalty checks come in. You know of course I signed up for a percentage deal. I'm not just another session singer ya know. Good Work Mike

I was thinking when my situation changes of moving to Europe and Producing and busking...so who knows, maybe we work together in the future! Let me know if you get to this part of the world. You'll be welcome to visit me in Denmark, anytime. The other way around, I hope to visit Taxi's road rally in L.A. in 2011, but Im not sure how far you're from LA? Could be great fun to meet a California native, though :-) Anyway, working on a project together could be good fun. Im not sure what kinds of projects you feel at home in, from these works, so let's talk more, when we can find a slot?

Magne, in 2011 I may very well be living in L.A...so that could be a possibility... ...we'll talk about a project together soon, I have exactly 3 projects ahead, though, so I couldn't start until those are nearly over, but we can PM each other as to what might be fun to do. You have a magnificent voice; maybe my production environment could help bring out its "magnificence"... I'll email you sometime later this week... Mike
