O.K. I have been thinking about this, and I didn't want to do something TOO obvious (like self portraits etc. although that wouldn't be a bad one either) SOOO i decided to do something a little different. I HOPE EVERYONE will join in on this one.. The challenge is to:
PICK A SONG OR LYRIC (one of yours or one of someone elses). and create a visual representation of it.. ( a photo, a stetch, whatever) THAT represents the MOOD of the song. not necessarily an image from the song (LIKE A PICTURE OF A RACOON FOR "ROCKY RACOON" but that would be O.K. too) but especially something visual that makes you feel the same feelings as the song.
I think this will be VERY interesting .. please remember to post either the SONG or LYRIC (or a link to it) as well as the picture.
Thanks, and I hope ALOT of people participate.. the first one to post BESIDES ME, will win the right to pick the next challenge.. so quick response counts too!!!!
P.S. I HOPE the other challenge (#1) still has people posting their portraits of Brian!

okay! I LIKE this challenge. I think I already have the song picked out too. Now all I need is to find the time to draw again.

I absolutely love these new challenges and even though I can barely draw a stick figure, I enjoy seeing what you artists create! Thanks for the fun threads.

Oh, this is cool. I am no great artist, but for half the songs I've written, I can just draw a gravestone.

Does Clifford's "Rescue Me" picture count???
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Tricia, technically Clifford will definitely count if you link to a song that you thik his picture represents!

Hi Kenneth...I have coloring pages ..that go for a songbook/activity book...I'm working on... I did Not draw them...but sent my ideas and a sketch or two over to Ron Tocknell in England.... I'll see if I can figure out how to share a couple.... and post the songs that go with them. I think this one... although it IS a picture of a wee fox in the woods....also emits the feeling of the song, hopefulness. The Fox is looking for his Forever Family.... How do I get it to show right on this post?...it is a jpg image....(and thanks to you and Nigel...I was able to put text on it) Best... Kaley

Kaley,
I tried to get the Jpeg to post on the page on the last challenge, and it never worked, I ended up just posting a link... I tried to follow the instructions in the post window, ut it was beyond MY abilities! I would love to see your picture.. I haven't been able to work on THIS challenge .. I have been buried with work, but hopefully I will be able to put some time on thi soon. I like the idea of this challenge. It is cool to see the mood of a song or picture be in resonance, and you can always GET a little more of the connection with the person who is sharing it, that way .

I'd suggest uploading the jpeg to a site such as Photobucket (it's free). Once it's uploaded, you can copy the URL link there, paste it in here like this: In the above example, "paste_the_link_here" would be something like: http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc331/rockndrtom/Hawaiianslides-WeissenbornKonastyle.jpgyou just have to put in back. I hope that's a clear enough description.

When I took this, "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles was playing in my head.... Hey Kenneth, You did NOT draw that pic of J.H. !! But in the likely event you did, that is unbelievable!! How did you create the smoke effect? Later, Beth P.S....btw, I'm so bummed, I read the rules as a DRAWING to go with a song...pictures would have been fun! No worries, I'll just look forward to Uncle Steve's Challenge, and read it more carefully!

I did the smoke with photoshop after scanning.. I can mail you the original if you like..(but on the original the smoke doesn't look good.. I planned on photoshopping it when I drew it..so I just scribbled the smoke...)

It's NOT too late.. Post a photo.. I would LOVE to see what you post.. I think it is a great way to communicate with art.. post the TWO pieces.. or links to them.. and let the visual elucidate the song, and vise versa!!! PLEASE!!

Heidi,
thanks! that's dry erase marker, ballpoint pen, and faded sharpy on printer paper, scanned and photoshopped for the smoke. I actually did it in about an hour once I gave up on the MOODIER aspects of the challenge.. I was going to draw a nice sullen frozen lake scene, and use Tom Waits "Alice" as the musical piece... but I have been really busy so I took the easy way out...
Beth,
thanks again!

Okay, Here's a picture of my 102 year old Grandmother Nonni from last year's 4th of July party. Bottle is really on her head. The seeming-double-thought-bubble I just added. It seemed like such a funny picture, but couldn't find any good songs to go with it...since it's my grandmother!! I didn't want to go CRUDE, but maybe someone can think of a song to match this? And isn't she cute? She'll be 103 on April Fool's Day.... Beth ![[Linked Image]](http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo30/busygemini_bucket/nonnibottle-1-1-1.jpg)

Hey Ken, Thanks, we think we'll keep her at least until next year's party! I actually have some great stories FROM WAY BACK WHEN SHE WAS 100! The kids these days, in the elementary schools, always have a party on the 100th day of school, and they all have to bring in 100 somethings. So Samantha brought in Nonni . It was a hoot. We were actually in the room waiting for them, so they all looked at her with these bug eyes on the way in, like they were seeing something dug up from the ruins of Pompeii!! (well, I don't know that they've learned about that yet, but you get what I mean...) "Have you ever been on a plane?" "Have you ever had Pepsi"? on and on and on. "What about hot pepper? Have you ever had a really hot hot pepper?" It was so cute, b/c all the questions were related to their own experiences -- nothing like "did you meet Abraham Lincoln?" or something like that...the historical aspect of it was sort of lost on them (and I guess rightly so, all being 7 at the time....). Anyway, she's one hip granny -- She's up on the news, and sorry, Big Jim, but her favorite show is Idol -- and no wise cracks, or I'll have to come over there myself! I was also so proud of her -- she said she was so proud to have lived long enough to see a black man get elected President. She immediately added, "I hope they don't kill him." So in this case, sadly, she is wise beyond her years.... Anyhoo, sorry to get distracted....I just love her to bits.... Ciao for now, Beth P.S. Hey how about "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things" from Sound of Music!!

Beth, you crack me up.. like they DUG UP FROM POMPEII !!! I saw a 7 year old interviewed on the news the other day and he was saying that "his whole life there had been a white president, and now ther was gonna be a black president." it seemed funny to me that he only KNEW to mention that difference because OTHERS had.. after all ANY different president would be diferent then what HE had always experienced!!! I love the perspective that old people have and how they seem to be able to be amazed and utterly unimpressed with technology at the same time.. like it is amazing , BUT NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL... which is probably a more accurate assessment than most people make... I haven't had much of a chance to have in depth conversations with the older generations, but when I have they have never failed to impress me and command my respect. "favorite things" is a good one.. I was thinkin of this song "lemonade" http://www.lyricstime.com/mitch-micvicker-the-lemonade-song-lyrics.htmlsomeone online pointed it out to me a while back... I can't find the music to it, but check out the lyrics... P.S. I love that smile.. you can really see it in even in her eyes

All you say is true Ken, about the older generation....but I won't get into all that here. Just wanted to put the kabosh on "Lemonade"!! It talks about her sitting up in HEAVEN having a glass -- no sirree, she's doing all her boozin' down here, as long as we ration it (she's probably had one drink in the last 10 years...)... Ciao for now, me P.S. Maybe "Don't Worry, Be Happy"
