Hi All - rittman let me play with another lyric and of course he was surprised where I went with it Ha - here's a link we'd love to know your thoughts. Thanks in advance!! http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6998774Instant Nostalgia/Music&Vocals Joice Marie/words rittmo' I knew when we first met every moment would be history in the making I may not be a very clever girl don't know advanced algebra but I'd bet the whole wide world that you and I discovered instant nostalgia and I'm in awe of how we found this wondrous magical awakening did we begin before we began is our love some kind of master plan I may not be a very clever girl don't know advanced algebra but I'd bet the whole wide world that you and I discovered instant nostalgia I may not be a very clever girl don't know advanced algebra but I'd bet the whole wide world that you and I invented instant nostalgia That you and I invented Instant nostalgia © 2008 by Joice Marie/rittmo'

Interesting tune -- rittmo' has a way of stringing together words, doesn't he?
I think when you stretched out girl.... and algebra...., you lost the rhyming link to world and nostalgia. The words were just too far apart to remember the rhyme (for me, at least). Since that section is repeated a few times, the song didn't really work for me.

Hi Joice, I like it, it's a little slower than I would like it to be, but overall, it's got a good melody, and the lyrics are very good. Maybe if the music were stepped up just a tad, it'd be a little bit better. I'll listen again, either way, though! Nice collab!

Hi JM & Rittmo,
I was kind of surprised where you went with it too. I was figuring on a little more bluesy feel. This reminds me of Hawaiian music. Don't ask! That said, it's still pleasing and your vocal really sells it. I'm not sure of the double vocal, it doesn't add much, in my opinion. But I like the upper octave singing you do at the end.
Just some thoughts.
Ricki

Came back for another try -- decided not to focus on the words at all, just the overall vibe. The playing and singing are very good, it amazing how much confidence you've gotten in your talents lately. The lack of "hearing the rhymes" still affects it, though.

JM, the melody, the lyrics, and the voice are lovely.
I think, though, that the song begs to be a lot more uptempo. I see it as a bright, light song, but the mood was melancholic. The prosody is out of kilter. (In one place I also got the Hawaiian feel that Ricki mentioned.)
The chorus is fun and clever, and I immediately thought of Sam Cooke's 1958 hit "What a Wonderful World". That song isn't madly uptempo but has a lightness about it that I feel would well suit "Instant Nostalgia".

Hi Caroline Glad that you like the melody.... I'm sure it can be done at a bit faster tempo..... I think there's a lot more going on in my head toward production and more instruments that I am the only one hearing - ha - part of the problem. Thanks so much for your kind feedback ! jm

This makes me smile... Perhaps I should have prefaced this song better.... I think rittman's inspiration was very clear for a musical idea and the lyrics reflect that aspect.... But Me being the kind - that's got my own path-- went where My inspiration was coming from.... and so this musical arrangement and attempt comes from being so inspired by Roy Orbison and the video Black and White Night.... NOT that I think My music or singing is anywhere near, but I Am inspired ... so I entertain the kind of production ( In My Head) of the Black and White Night video.... here's a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLxoZEFoKlAAnyway 'tis where the falsetto and that 'Hawaiian' vibe come from.... I'm taking your note about the second vocal seriously.... I think you may be right - it's in unison- maybe a Harmony would work better.. Thanks for listening ! jm

Here here! I was checking out this tune and was starting to comment on it, and I see my name in here. You guys are talking about me but I don't understand what your talking about.lol But I'm very happy that some one is talking about me at all lol... This song had some interesting changes to it, the words make me feel it to be a faster song I think. Don't know why! And what dvd?

Someone mentioned confidence in your singing...and how it shows and how you've grown, Joice...how true!...starting at about the 1:42 mark...I really liked what you started doing there. Vocals are lovely! Enjoyed my listen....and Rittster,...so glad you are with us.. my friend... Hope you are continuing to get stronger! very best to you both.... kk

Hi joice: Diggin' this one.... Yeah, maybe a little faster tempo. Also, now that Ritt has heard it, maybe the advanced algebra line could be massaged. Is a good word to end on - maybe replace "advanced" with something else that meters better with the music....like "don't know da-da-da or algebra" - the key being what to stick in for da-da-da Song speaks to a feeling I've felt many times... Hi Scott hey Thanks - glad you are digging it ! Okay on the notes you have - I'll discuss this with ritt. I've been singing this out and with my trio so I think it holds some promiss of an upgraded recording as I gain more command of what I'm doing on it. I really appreciate the feedback and I know ritt does too. jm
