www.myspace.com/karlfarrenwww.sonicbids.com/karlfarrenIf Tom Waits went bail for Johnny Cash, and together they broke parole, drove all night through the Carolinas, PJ Harvey behind the wheel, Townes Van Zandt and Son House on the radio; ran the border and holed up in a cabin in the Wicklow hills where Elvis Costello helped Nick Drake finally find his sense of humour....this might come close.... This is UnAmericana; - backwoods soul music: melodic, lyrical and contemporary, yet rooted in an older, mythic soil; a rich and ancient sediment of storytelling and folk memory. Karl threads his bruised tenor voice, alternately warm and honeyed or scuffed and worn as a favourite old leather jacket, through acoustic and resonator guitars, drums, double bass, Hammond, Wurlitzer, fiddle and mandolin. Whether testifying like a revival tent preacher or intimating in a tender falsetto, his finely-crafted songs take you on a journey from the grit of working-class Dublin, through the peat bogs of an Irish glen to the red earth of the Australian bush; from the cool of a back porch in the Appalachians to the funky heat of the Mississippi delta.

Hey Lainie, cool stuff, love the upright, I especially like the chorused bass on "Bye Bye Blackbird." Great singing. Here's a good link: http://myspace.com/lainiesmusicYou don't allow bands to be friends?
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Mike,
Jody Whitesides is also a very talented performer, but he, too, does not accept friend's requests from bands. I guess they have their reasons.

Hi...
I'm new at songwriting - but have several songs under my belt already, a few of which are at: Myspace.com/nancyvogl
My songwriting partner is my son-in-law - check him out too: MySpace.com/lesliebowe
Thanks! Nancy

Another excellent place to post music is http://www.folkalley.com/It's under the OPEN MIC tab on the left of the page. The don't limit the number of songs you can post as MySpace does. You can even get feedback if people care to. There's also a rating system and they keep track of how many times your songs are played.

OK, I finally got a band page set up today - just one song on it right now, but here it is: http://www.myspace.com/lindaadamssingsIt looks like I have no friends, so please add me! Thanks a bunch! Linda [PS: I'm out there as an author under this one: http://www.myspace.com/alyssastory It's not a music page, so I had to set up a new one. I haven't even made friends with myself yet... LOL]
