She just meant that when faced with death, even atheists tend to pray.

Oh! Duh!
Okay, let's see if I can find a punchline...
Okay, got it.
The answer is: none. Instead of praying, they just called for help on their cell phones.

LOL. LOved the One other thing Kaley. Okay. As one who has walked away from quite a few "How did I suevive that" situations, (including, as it happens, one of having a shark for company while swimming from one surfcat to another to get it out of difficulty, then swimming back to my own) over the years but never became a fear driven believer, I can tell you there would be at least one if past experience is any guide. I think I have a song sort of related to this question actually. Seem to remember one our JPF treasures telling me I was going to burn in hell for it too. I did see the cyber grins though. I'll see if I can find it. Graham

Ahhh! Jokes!
Did you hear about the Atheist who accosted a preacher? "Do you believe in eternal life?" The preacher has no time to reply. "Well its a load of rubbish!" shouted the Atheist. "I believe in science, evolution, survival of the fittest, and when we die, that's it! No eternal life, no great judgement, and no God!" The Atheist continues his assault against the preacher repetitiously and tirelessly. "Eternal life! Eternal life! Ha! "Its all pie in the sky when you die. When I die that's it, the end, no eternal life, no nothing." He continues, until he reaches his climax, "I will be buried six feet under when I die and that's it! Nothing! Caput! When I die I am utterly convinced that that will be the end of me!" "Well thank God for that" replies the preacher!
-------------------------------------------------------------
What do you get when you cross an atheist with a Jehovahs Witness?.... Someone who knocks at your door for no apparent reason.
--------------------------------------------------
There was a Christian lady who lived next door to an atheist. Every day, when the lady prayed, the atheist guy could hear her. He thought to himself, "She sure is crazy, praying all the time like that. Doesn't she know there isn't a God?"
Many times while she was praying, he would go to her house and harass her, saying "Lady, why do you pray all the time? Don't you know there is no God?" But she kept on praying.
One day, she ran out of groceries. As usual, she was praying to the Lord explaining her situation and thanking Him for what He was gonna do. As usual, the atheist heard her praying and thought to himself, "Humph! I'll fix her."
He went to the grocery store, bought a whole bunch of groceries, took them to her house, dropped them off on the front porch, rang the door bell and then hid in the bushes to see what she would do. When she opened the door and saw the groceries, she began to praise the Lord with all her heart, jumping, singing and shouting everywhere! The atheist then jumped out of the bushes and told her, "You ol' crazy lady, God didn't buy you those groceries, I bought those groceries!" At hearing this, she broke out and started running down the street, shouting and praising the Lord.
When he finally caught her, he asked what her problem was. She said, "I knew the Lord would provide me with some groceries, but I didn't know he was gonna make the devil pay for them!"
------------------------------------------------------------
Why did the atheist cross the road? He thought there might be something on the other side, but he wouldn’t believe it until he tested his his hypothesis.
------------------------------------------------------------
How many atheists does it take to change a light bulb? Two. One to actually change the bulb, and the other to videotape the job so fundamentalists won’t claim that god did it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Atheist: What’s this fly doing in my soup? Waiter: Praying. Atheist: Very funny. I can’t eat this. Take it back. Waiter: You see? The fly’s prayers were answered.
-------------------------------------------------------
Atheist knock knock joke:
Knock Knock Who's there? God God Who? God God Who? God, God, God Must be the wind.

Why did the alcoholic become a christian?
Cause he wanted to learn how to turn water into wine.
At a special service for kids the preacher was trying to get the kids involved by asking them questions. Many hands went up. He then asked one of the kids to answer. All was going well till he asked "Now can anyone tell me the reason why are we all here in church today?" Little johnny put his hand up and was pointed out to answer the question. "Cause my Mom made me come."

An atheist only believes in what he/she can see, taste or feel, they don't believe in taking things by faith. I can't see air or radio waves, or germs but they are there. I can't see electricity or know how it works but I can see evidence that it exist, just as I know God exist because I see evidence all around me. Love and hate can't be seen but evidence of both can be seen and even felt. I KNOW God exist, I can't see Him but I can feel Him and see Him in His creation. He gave man a period of time to govern himself and man has made a mess of it, that period of time will soon be up and Jesus will return to set up His government. No evil or sin will be allowed in His kingdom.
Trust is a form of faith and I trust God. I trust in His WORD. Even atheist have trust in things, like trusting their belt will hold their pants up, if they didn't, then they would have to back it up with braces and put their trust(faith) in them.

I heard this years ago so I have to paraphrase it from memory so if anyone knows the joke correctly please correct me, but my version has the gist.
A well known scientist at a major university was thoroughly convinced that with today's technology there was no longer a need for God. With science we can do all of these things ourselves. Unfortunately, the professor passed away before he could finish his experiments. After passing, he was sent to heaven to meet God personally, when God asked him about his theory he said "yes God with today's technology we can do anything that you can do". So God decided to put him to a test. God says' "OK professor I will perform a miracle first and I want you to do the same thing". "Fair enough" the professor says'. God then picks up a handful of dirt, throws it into the air and a beautiful castle forms in front of their eyes. The professor chuckles and says I can do that and as he bends down to pick up the handful of dirt God stops him and says "Professor, use your OWN dirt". Ben

An atheist only believes in what he/she can see, taste or feel, they don't believe in taking things by faith. How do you know this is true? Why on earth would you think yourself qualified to speak for atheists? You have faith that air, germs and electricity exists because you do not understand the proof of their existence. Scientists can prove their existence. So can middle school science teachers. As proof of God's existence you offer a tree and say, "See, I told you God exists." Sorry, but a list of things that you do not understand and whose creation you cannot begin to imagine does not constitute proof. Again, why are believers SO intent on PROVING the very things that they claim to take on faith alone? There is no proof that the God of the Holy Bible ever existed and there is no proof that the man Jesus was his son. Why does this lack of proof seem to upset you so much? Why do go around making up the proof you need?

BELIEVER: (holds up a banana) "This is an orange."
SKEPTIC: "I don't think so. What makes you say that?
BELIEVER: "I have a book, and it says this is an orange."
SKEPTIC: "What if the book is wrong."
BELIEVER: "The book cannot be wrong. It is infallable."
SKEPTIC: "What makes you say that?"
BELIEVER: "The guy who wrote the book says it came straight from God."
SKEPTIC: "How do you know it came from God."
BELIEVER: "It says so in the book."
SKEPTIC: "I have a book, too, and my book says that is a banana."
BELIEVER: "Your book is wrong."

Everett your arguments do not make sense. Even to believers your points are naive to the point of being laughable. You are entitled to your own beliefs but that is all they are BELIEFS. I sometimes wonder if you actually have any deep belief in what you are saying yourself or are just following the other lambs because that is all you know and have been taught to do. I hope that perhaps this thread has broadened your horizons and maybe you start looking at things from a more balanced and informed point of view. I am not asking you to change your beliefs just make sure you actually know a bit more about what you and others are talking about.

Mike you have hit the nail on the head again. If you believe in something then nobody but nobody can convince you otherwise. My argument is simple no one yet can even PROVE to themselves that God exists they can only believe it. Having looked at most of the evidence I decided that logically there cannot be a God. That is my belief based on logic. Blind faith itself cannot convince me of anything. The bible by itself is very poor evidence to make the GIANT leap to believing. Most folk believe because they are expected to by their mothers fathers and peers so that is what they do without question. This saddens me. Most folk have not researched the subject properly yet still come to an informed judgement. CRAZY

Jim, to begin with, the Bible never made me believe, and I doubt if it makes anyone believe. Most believers I've spoken with have come to the Bible after already believing. Actually, I could be convinced my belief is wrong, but not here on earth. If I go up there and Buddha laughs at me and offers me a drink, I'll laugh and say I was wrong. If life is all there is, I'll never know I was wrong. But I don't believe either will happen.
Again, it wasn't the Bible, or someone's preaching, or any logical rationalization that brought me to belief. It was prayer.
Getting back to Truman's statement that believers are intent on proving the very things that they claim to take on faith alone, very few believers I've known seem to me to be intent on proving it at all. Sure, they'd like to lead folks to prayer, to adopting a personal relationship with the Creator, but I've never known anyone who actually tried to prove God's existence, that would be folly and pride. Again, the fall of the angels. My personal sin, for which I must be on guard and continually ask forgiveness.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Actually, most philosophers who have given it a shot have concluded, using the logical process of reason, that God exists. http://www.philosopher.org.uk/god.htmIt's all the tenets of all the different religions that get dodgy.

Lyle philosophers and logic have very little in common.
Mike I fail to see how a conversation with yourself can make you believe in God. If you actually heard him speak or saw a vision then either your sanity is in question or you should lay off illegal substances. Somebody must have spoken to you first and influenced you about God or the bible prior to you praying otherwise you could not have just thought about praying in the first place. Hence my statement about folk having to be told to believe first holds true.

Lyle there is so many logic and reasoning processes in philosophy that by its very nature it is illogical and almost impossible to get two philosophers agreeing on almost anything they would spend eternity debating things that you and I would take for granted. Hence my statement. Read some books and you will see exactly what I mean. I read a book on realism. Most of those cats would not know reality if it bit them on the ass.

Dang. And I thought there was just one more thing ages ago, now it is just one dang thing after another. The comments from both sides seem to be getting pulled out of a hat, and are fast losing any value as a debating point folks. Graham

And which god would that be Ray? Saying that reminded me of the song I mentioned earlier so I went and got it. A very old joke bent a bit. Graham http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=7032&songID=6141413Praying Clothes © Copyright Graham Henderson APRA 2006 He claimed to have read the Bible. But wasn’t liable to be deceived. And what he’d read was too un-buyable. To be believed. He sort of lived by the commandments. Well held to one at least. And never covered his neighbour’s wife. Who was an ugly looking piece. But one day he got to thinking. What if he was wrong. He didn’t want to spend. Forever in Hades. So picked a church and went along. He bought himself some praying clothes. And used them regularly. But then he wondered if the church he picked. Came with a guarantee. So, he started, church hopping. Changing the way he’d pray. So his Sundays became a mighty task. As did Saturday with the SDA. Then one day he fell. From a building really tall. And he prayed to every single God. He could recall. But it seemed his gods, had deserted him. So in desperation. He thought he’d try facing Mecca. To save the situation. He cried out Allah all merciful. Save me I’m too young to die. There was a clap of thunder and a big black hand. Came down out of the sky. It caught him in the nick of time. And held him lovingly. And the crowd below could not believe. What they had been blessed to see. Then the hand that saved him. Gently put him down. He said thank God. And a big black foot. Mashed him into the ground. Well they scraped up what they could of him And poured it in his praying clothes. And sent him off to his maker. Which one we can only suppose. So there he lies, to this day. Six feet down. In the ground. All dressed up in his praying clothes With. Absolutely nowhere to go.

Hi Ladynred What question did I not answer? If you mean the one about drinking well I fail to see any relevance but I very occasionaly will have a beer or a glass of wine and I have never taken any drugs or illegal substances. I am curious as to why you would ask such a question. Explain yourself please?

Most debates have sides, and this is no exception Jim. One sides facts are often the other side's fiction. I saw Ray's "I can attest "I can attest" and thought of that very thing. I see it he believes God Loves us all. He sees as it he knows God Loves us. Maybe on the usumption that to say I believe instead of I know, would suggest some doubt. Whatever the reason. I see I know, and it comes with a "Closed mind" sticker attached. Either way i wonder about that given very few of us know the others we are addressing in forums well enough to actually know them well enough to know, or even believe any god would in fact love us. I hope no young folks read this and come to the conclusion grownups can be very childish at times. Graham

Hmmmmmmmmmmm I don't remember trying to prove God exist, I take it on faith that He exist, others are trying to prove that He does not exist, they can't prove that either. My faith makes me happy and content, does your lack of faith do the same for you.

You are right Graham. 2000 years of indoctrine dogma and misconceptions cannot be wiped out by rational discussion. I think Everett was addressing the question to me. Everett the whole point that I was making is that I cannot understand how folk can arrive at such strong BELIEFS without knowing the full facts or listening to or respecting any alternative views. I cannot argue with your beliefs only the reasoning and facts you base those beliefs on. If your facts are wrong then this should be pointed out.

I think the trick is to accept people believe what they choose to, and respect their right to, while expecyting the same from them. Going over and over the same old ground willrarely make somebody see things differantly in the case of theology. Funnily enough, I am watching the jesus family tree show on SBS as I type. Interesting stuff.

Whee..I just finally got time to read all 7+ pages of this & catch up! I'm glad to see it's "ending" with a bunch of Humor. (As a Saggitarian, I guess My Opinion Counts..? Heh!) I find it amazing that a Discussion of Kids' Morals more or less ends up debating the relative Merits of Christian Religious Belief. It actually took 3 full pages before Bob Cushing mentioned "The Golden Rule"...the one "Universal" "Law" that's gonna make or break Mankind's Survival, JMO. It's really at The Core of whatever passes for "Morality"...in ANY era. (It's also fairly easy for a Parent to make kids AWARE the Rule exists..& there's really no "Need" for corporal punishment..PM me & I'll tell ya a simple method an 80-yr-old Dutch Lady told me that I've tried for YEARS to get Ann Landers to publish & cut down the US's Child Abuse stats.) Pastor Skip's mailed me a Bible..& I started with Genesis. Says God created the world in days. I'm immediately AWARE the Bible has got Something Wrong with it...in view of The Facts as We, Today, Know Them. (Please do NOT contradict me. I've already READ Both Halves back in College/KNOW Many a Chapter had MULTIPLE Authors, Changes, MIS-Interpretations {Like "Virgin" REALLY meaning "a woman of MARRIAGEABLE age"...tho Mary WAS only 14 at the time...heh...}{And the EARLIEST description of Jesus had him having 4 brothers & 2 sisters, BTW...}) In fairness, I'd like ALL Christians to read Chapters 1 & 2 on James Michner's "HAWAII" for a little Historical Perspective on how Christian Values affected Day-to-Day lifestyles on that little part of God's World. As a former (Childhood) Christian, current Deist, I'd like to remind "The Faithful" that MANY a founder of The U.S. of A. was a Deist. Moral Folks. Like George Washington. & In-Betweeners (Christian Morals, anyways) like Benjamin Franklin. (His being "In-Between" got us help from those "Sinful" Frenchmen & REALLY Liberal Dutch Bankers to GET this "One Nation Under God" Underway.) The Christian Church has delayed MORE Scientific Progress than it's ever helped. Among Galleileo's discoveries was the Pendulum Clock. BUT he was having too much trouble with The Inquisition to ever get it built during his lifetime. His notes went off to "Decadent" Holland, where Scientist Christian Huygens had a Dutch Clockmaker, Simon Coster, fabricate the First-of-Many..heh! Today they mess with Stem Cell research. All in The Name of God. Now, first off, I DO believe in God, having met The Deity first-hand behind a 6" wide tree as a Vietcong was approaching my Night Position....& (Prayer-Answered) NOT having to kill him. I also believe in Reincarnation, having held my wife's hand thru 2 births and my mom's as she passed. So I have, what to me, is a "Logical" Explanation of both beliefs..I've Experienced Them. The more I READ, the Less I Believe in What Others Tell Me. I make up my Own Mind. I answer only to God himself/herself/whatever MANifestation YOU wanna Give The Deity. Like the Islamics, I consider myself a MONOTHEIST. (& they hate Christians because You "Believers" somehow have a 3-Some goin' on there..which they consider UN-Holy.) (Which I'll bet MANY a Christian CAN'T really Explain?) I tend to concur with the Hindu Parable of The Blind Men & The Elephant: Each has a "feel" for only PART of The Reality. & perhaps, NONE has the "Total Picture" THO "Everyone's Partially-RIGHT." In defense of Big Jim, & other "Infidels" like me, Here's the concluding Verse & Chorus of a Song I wrote, "HONK IF YOU LOVE ATHEISTS": "Now, I think God is Non-Denominational He speaks Swahili (& Persian, Too) & The Atheists He sent are Motivational (If they Get To Heaven, it ain't up to you!) So..Honk If You Love Atheists Honk for Folks Who Got Their Doubts! They're not out to Change Your Minds OR Convince You You Been Blind.. Their Honesty is so Hard-to-Resist, So Honk If You Love Atheists..yeah.. Honk If You Love Atheists!" I love you guys dearly. That's why I argue with y'all. If I didn't love you, Stan, and Jim and all the folks I argue with, I'd just ignore you.
I think of the Trinity as the three manifestations of one God (and I believe there's one God) pretty simple to me, I just don't know how He did it.
I agree, there've been many atrocities done in the name of God...also in the name of Democracy, Socialism, Royal Families, National Pride, Cultural Pride, Racial Pride, Neighborhood Pride, School Pride, Family Pride, Personal Pride, Capitalism, Morality, Fairness, Decency, Safety and Security. Unless those things are also wrong, then blaming them, instead of blaming folks who would use them as an excuse to do bad things, is flawed logic. Come on people, it's personal responsibility, don't look outward for reasons why kids are immoral, they're immoral because we are.
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Um Graham, Which God would that be? Uh, well let's see. In that first Commandment, I think, He said Thou shall have no other Gods before me but didn't say how many there were.
Wait!, I think I've got it! It is, yes it is, the Upside down God for you. See you have been included.
I believe in Food, Shelter, and Clothing and upside down Gods.

I get a kick out of watchin' my God-less MacCaws. Unlike US, THEY mate for life. Sex is No Big Deal..tho acquiring a Mate is. After that, they're the Best of Family-Raisers! I'm their Idea of God..I break up most Big Disputes...Provide Food & Shelter..& whatever Encouragement a Pet Owner can.
& yep, in some way, The Deity HAS our Characteristics: I'm sometimes LATE with "Whatever's Expected." Sometimes even FORGET The Important Stuff (like turning their lights out in the Garage every night..so they can sleep) because Something "More Important" took my mind off The Routine. In their own Limited Way they return The Love...Offspring..The Occasional Caress..Mimicry..(Most of the 4 are "talkers")..& their simple Beauty as Living Beings.
As their "God", I don't really Expect Much. I'm aware of their Limited Brainpower (That of a Human 4-yr-old) and Vocabulary. They could care less about "Evolution"..or a Tripartite Deity.
I'm aware they CAN inflict Pain on me..in enough ways They DO Get My Respect. But I'd never think of killin' 'em off, no matter what they do, tho, yep, I'll miss them if they die before I do (Which ISN'T likely..the REAL Deity gave THEM Over-100 Yr Lifespans!) (Prolly because MacCaws are less a Pain-in-The-Celestial Butt than Man is.)
Anyways, you CAN extrapolate a LOT about The Essence of The Deity from Non-Biblical Sources. (For instance, The Deity's sent down FIVE different Genders..each very "Naturally-Occuring": Straight Males, Straight Females, Gay Men, Lesbians, & Hermaphrodites. They ALL get Born Here..Daily. Get used to it.)
Children are occasionally born with TAILS, too. (I wonder what THAT means...Hmmm?)
None of The Above bothers me in the least. IF it bothers you, be sure to let me know why. (If God sent it, It's Got to Be Good..)
Gotta Scoot...I work on Sundays, too!
Big Hugs, Stan

Hey. Anybody see "ONCE"?
What Mike posted about prayer is key. Anyone who believes will in time see evidence of its effectiveness. I don't know whether God exists, but I am convinced in the power of belief (prayer).
I ask that you suspend for the moment debate on the existence of God and explore the power of belief. The challenge, to the willing, is this: without being specific, compose a statement or group of statements (prayer) on the order of:
"I believe something good is going to happen for me today. I may not see it happen, but somewhere will occur an event that will, in time, change my life for the better".
The only requirements are these: your "prayer" must begin with the words, "I believe", and you must repeat it every day. If you do so, and eventually something good, beyond your capability to conceive of and engineer yourself, does not happen for you, I will humbly admit I was wrong.
This challenge is a sure win for you. Either you get to prove you are right and I am wrong, or your life gets better.
If you're just going to fan the flame, piss on it!

Hi Y'all... :)Excuse me please...for rehashing...BUT...I was off the internet...for the last two days....and couldn't respond to y'all... I wasn't ignoring your questions to me...or your thoughts. So tis my 2nd and last....also... Jim and Graham...You two always make me smile...!!!.. Two folks I'd positive love to meet in person... here on JPF.... !!!!..and both so far away. Going to try my hardest to get to Pineyfest this upcoming year...Would be honored to talk to both of ya!!...if you could make it. I'd heard that lifeboat question once in a sermon....and got thinking about it... and thought, it not only applied to folks that didn't believe in God...but so many folks that do ..including me at times in my life. Meaning...There's been times in my life when I've put God off in a corner and cried out only when I really needed His help. Truman and others have questioned my citing proofs... I went that direction in answering rather than talking about my own Faith, Hope, Trust, and Belief because I was trying to answer folks that are looking for tangibles. I started out by saying......: I am a believer and yes I believe the Bible is God's Inspired Word. BUT IF I WAS SPEAKING TO AN UNBELIEVER, I'd start by suggesting he or she look at proofs such as Design in Nature, Laws, Answered Prayers that were nothing short of a Miracle, Creation requiring both a Creator and a Sustainer, and Life coming from life. What I meant was....If I was speaking to someone...who thought the Bible was a series of Hebrew and Greek Beddy By Tales :), and who positively did not believe in God whatsoever? it might make more impact having them at least THINK about creation requiring a creator...and design requiring a designer...Laws that govern this Universe....requiring an originator and a sustainer....and bring out the fact that on one hand evolution based textbooks start out with the statement....In the beginning the ATOM..and on the other hand, sneer at, In the Beginning God... I still would hope folks would put the atom in a search engine...study it a bit...and then tell me based on face value.., it didn't require a designer The apostle Paul...said it much better in Romans 1:20... This is a paraphrase from the Bible Tools Web site: This was the verse I was trying to think of when I said...Folks could know God exists by just looking out their windows. Romans 1:20 (paraphrase)(Bible Tools Web Site) Even without the Spirit of God, without God having fully revealed Himself to a person, it is still possible for him to recognize that a creation demands the existence of a Creator. He can see that an intelligent Designer is necessary rather than the natural world coming into existence by sheer chance. Thus, God says that they are without excuse because they can understand the things that can be known about Him, if they choose to accept it. The very best to y'all.....this weekend....and Happy Writing!!! Kaley... Piano Melodies and Demos: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=8404&content=musicChildren Songs: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=6469&content=musicWyman and Kaley's Andy & Friends CD http://cdbaby.com/cd/kwwg Kaley said: Where is the morality in youth? ...Like many others, I would not look just at the youth. I don't think we (society) believe morals have changed because we slowly over time change with the changes. If a pot of water starts out as being tepid....and ever so slowly gets warm...and then by small degrees gets warmer still over time, would we realize it was getting warmer? I don't think we would. NOT until it got so hot one day that we'd wake up and say "how did it get this hot?". God or Not. I am a believer and yes I believe the Bible is God's Inspired Word. But if I was speaking to an unbeliever, I'd start by suggesting he or she look at proofs such as Design in Nature, Laws, Answered Prayers that were nothing short of a Miracle, Creation requiring both a Creator and a Sustainer, and Life coming from life. Just a few and I'll be quiet...because I don't like to babble on about my beliefs...but If I'm questioned, I'll answer...or like this...topic, I'll speak up if I feel like I can offer something. We're all born into a ready made world. Many of us, like Jim is saying, do NOT question what we're taught. We don't take the time to research it out...we trust...we believe..with out taking the time to really investigate what and why we believe. It's been stated in evolutionary textbooks that the "big bang" started with an exploding atom.....hmmmmm...If true, who created the meticulously designed atom, which in itself is like a little universe...incredibly complex!!!.... Some folks will say Christians are crazy for believing "In the beginning, God"...yet...will say..."In the beginning, the atom". In order for an atom to have started everything... A Creation, itself, had to be in place. Because it took an incredible designer and sustainer to make the atom to begin with. Pull up and study the atom in any search engine and see if you feel it required a designer. The laws of Gravity and physics are absolutes!!...They required both a Law Giver...and A sustainer. I don't wake up in the morning and Thank God for the laws of Gravity...but I really should!!.What if there was not a sustainer?.( even for just ONE second?).. Answered Prayers. Like many others I don't like to see deceitful practices like "some times" are shown on tv...where someone who really isn't sick to begin with starts ...miraculously jumping about. But there are many doctors out there who would agree with the statement..."The only possible explanation was a Miracle." Life coming from Life.(life coming from the LIVING not inanimate). I had parents, my dog had parents, cows have parents, etc..... Life comes from Life. and...Design... God says...that we can know he exists...by looking out our windows. (paraphrase). Snowflakes, the human body, the colors of a sunset, the patterns of stars in the sky, how the ocean waves come so far and then stop, and just being able to breathe in.........and breathe out each day... I'm thankful there is a God. But like you, Jim...I would get bored playing a harp and floating on a cloud for eternity. Thank God....I believe He has something much greater for us planned than that. and why is there such heartbreak, pain and sickness about?...God explains that in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy in the old testament....I'm doing this from memory and I think it's chapter 28....Basically it comes down to we're stubborn....., we think we have all the answers...and can solve all our own problems...God's giving us a certain span of time to allow us to do just that..(try). That's why He doesn't always intervene. Thankfully, There will be an intervention when He will once again send his Son to this earth....at the point where humans would wipe every other human off the face of the earth. One other thing....How many atheists are there...on a lifeboat..adrift in the middle of the ocean...with sharks circling about..? the very best to you all, Kaley.... Again, why are believers SO intent on PROVING the very things that they claim to take on faith alone?
How do you know this is true? Why in heaven would you think yourself qualified to speak for believers? By reading what they have to say.

It was Nietzsche who wrote "god is dead", not Kant. He was also known as "the Madman". I know, but I was too lazy to look up how to spell Nietzsche. And then I would have lost my brilliant Kant/Kantu pun.
