The attempt at a tune can be found here. 1st one..at the top. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=593192I realize that everyone with double last names doesn't end up in the joint, but neither does every kid born "In The Ghetto" wind up face down with a gun in his hand! Thank ya vury much... Hyphenated © Ben Burton OCTOBER 29, 2007 CHORUS So many names get hy-phen-ate-d When fragile babies are created In love affairs that never made it They see too late they should have waited V1 Another helpless child Seldom wears a smile Feeling all alone Starts to roam when no one's home Learning on the street Agile on his feet Running from the law You know he's bound to fall So many names get hy-phen-ate-d When fragile babies are created In love affairs that never made it They see too late they should have waited V2 Started as a game Gradu'lly became The answer to a dream Fastest way to earn some green Working hand in hand With the pusher man Screw the dudes in blue They ain't the boss of you So many names get hy-phen-ate-d When fragile babies are created In love affairs that never made it They see too late they should have waited BRIDGE The prison walls are full of hyphenations The list increases with each generation As nurturing in families declines The innocence of childhood grows shorter all the time So many names get hy-phen-ate-d When fragile babies are created In love affairs that never made it They see too late they should have waited

Is this rap? If so, I'm having trouble just speaking the beat pattern for 5th line in the verses.

Hey Ben
Interesting lyric
I think you have some good points in this one. As I work in a prison I do often see this so you pointed out some very relevant stuff here. However I am not entirely sure that most of them come from broken homes. I think a lot of them come from families where the Mother an Father are still together. As they get the last name of both the Father and the Mothers maiden last name. Other than that cool lyric! Derek
