Awwww...I guess I oughta be gone more often...I find out the most amazing stuff when I leave for awhile...this time I find out that Mudgie actually misses me when I'm not here ta get him all riled up!! Bobbelina sounds like some kinda bird. LOL Maybe I'm thinking of Lark in the Morning which is an awesome music store. Got pert near every kind of musical instrument known to man for sale there. Glad my absense at least prompted you to write some nonsense, however. LOL Sorta reminds me of one I have lurking somewhere called THE ABSENCE OF YOUR PRESENCE. Cain't even member what it was all about at this point in time. You better be nice to that Boo character. I gotta depend on her to handle you while I have to be away from here!!! I know she can do it...but I worry that she might hurt herself again in the process. Gotta git back ta work...been shirkin' mine too long here. Hugs, B

Okay, Wy,
You're off the hook (hey, that would be a good hook!) for at least a little while. That business about "I'd a" leading into IdaMarie --classic.
And it's funny you should mention Boo Boo being there to help in times of trouble. Just yesterday, I heard a lot of commotion in our back yard --thought the resident hawk was working the food chain -- so stepped onto the sunporch to see a local tabby sitting all coiled up at the bottom of the drainpipe. I'm thinking, goodness, that hawk is SHAMELESS, going after a poor kitty. Then I hear some chirping and scrambling from INSIDE THE DRAINPIPE and Miss Kitty reaches her paw in , swatting around for something. SO, me thinks the tide has turned...victim is now villain...I think it all through...do I let nature take it's course, or do I somehow reverse all this bad bird karma and come to it's rescue from aforementioned kitty. At the risk of getting my eyeballs pecked out, I opt for the latter....I hobble out to the back yard, scare mean kitty away, then grab a long stick and sort of lightly tap the drain pipe to let the little critter know it's safe now (isn't that some international cross-species signal?) Apparently not...I am forced to pull off the curved lower portion of the drainpipe. I was petrified, sure the little tweetie would come at me...but again, good karma was urging me on....I was finally able to get the piece off...luckily it wasn't in that portion of the pipe....so I call "here little birdie, here little birdie", give one more tap of the drainpipe -- AND OUT HOPS A LITTLE RASCALLY CHIPMUNK!! Oh Mother Nature is playing such tricks on me!! Those two sound so similar when they're afraid and scrambling away from a murderous tabby. By the time I realized it was a chipmunk, it was gone....probably eaten by the kitty hiding around the corner. Oh well, I did my part, washed my hands vigorously, and carefully made my way back to the house. I just about peed in my pants I was laughing to myself so hard. What a dummy! Though I bet Steve the Crocodile Hunter (may he rest in peace!) would have been proud of me, taking on this challenge with two casts and still in my jammies.
Oh well, thought I'd offer up this "little" anecdote as sort of a "bon voyage" gift to you....and heck, when are you actually GOING to VOYAGE???
Coffee's a'callin', Boo Boo

Well Bobbelina is back, I thought this might slide into oblivion before you returned. Must've got fairly close. (Story a' my life--got fairly close <G>) Yeah, I was so inspired that I wrote a whole Bobbelina song. No, I ain't gonna' post it. Pastpostin' for a while. (Well I may post on one a' the other boards. all ya' gota' do then, is check back every couple days to see if anything's moved.) But, I digress, actually, I'm kinda' likin' this Bobbelina song. I may try to do something with it if I can surre--, uh surritip---, aw hell,if I can "secretly" get some feedback on it. "that Boo character"---you said a mouthful there all right <G>. Wow!! she must like to type. She does, like a "novel" in just a comment . Ain't gonna' tackle "that" right now. She's on my "list" anyway for skipping right over me on my crit on her song. Humpff!!!!! Thanks for the visit and the inspiration Wy

Well, well, It's Skipalong Boo, Humpf--skipped right over me. That did generate a little ditty though. I'll stick it down on the end if I can find it again. "The Great Chipmunk Caper"---Do you realize you interfered with the balance of nature and stuff? Surely you can get a song out of that. At least you didn't "break" anything else. Do you have any appendages thst haven't been broken yet or have you gone through 'em all? <G> In two casts and jammies---must've been a sight all right. Did anybody get any pictures?--Neighbors maybe ?,gonna' have you charged with upsetting the balance of nature? Ok ,ditty follows---Maybe a little bit older kids song, but maybe too many people wouldn't know what a "bio" was------------------------------------ Me And You And Skipalong Boo
Me and you and Skipalong Boo Went down to the ol' bio Then Skipalong, she skipped on out And we were left alone
We didn't quite know what to do Since Skipalong had skipped So in the end we both went home But you gave me one quick kiss

Hey 153, whoops, wrong girl, Hey 152", <G> Well, I can't hardly part with shirkin' cause the whole song kinda' rests on the play between shirkin' and workin'--- titles--hooks are very important IMO. "First", ya gotta' get their attention. It's like the guy who had the mule he said minded real good and the first thing he did was hit 'im in the head with a 2X4. So other guy says, "Well if he minds so good, what'd ya' do "that" for? ----"Well, ya' gotta' get his "attention' first". Wy (Yeah, know, cruelty to animals) (Oh---all the replies---well, a lot of that is from folks pickin' on me, (Not naming any names), Well, I'm a "short timer" Oh Kaaaaley.)

Hi Wy,
I of course love your title because I am already seeing the first rhyme.
I'd rather see a shorter bridge and a more defined departure lyrically by not mentioning words used in the rest of the lyric.
Perhaps:
I don't mind the sacrifice Of money for more time, To spend with you there darlin', That suits my heart just fine!
Best, Lynn P.S. Keep the "shirkin" it's workin' for me!!

You do have a point on the bridge Lynn I rather like what I have "content-wise" but I think I'll try to cut out the words that've been used in the lyric. It's also a longer bridge than I usually write. I generally stay down to two to four lines like they ordinarily recommend, but don't know if i can condense it or not. Thanks for giving me your thoughts Wy (I remodeled the B)

Hey Mudgie...I am BACCCKKKK!! Lots of tales to tell. If I EVER think of moving again, I hope someone will just take me out behind the barn and shoot me!! I think I prolly have the fodder for at least 3-4 new lyrics outta this experience, however. (Now if I just had time to WRITE 'em!!) Ok...so where have you posted the Bobbelina song? LOL Just outta curiosity...I gotta see how much damage I took on that one!! It is hard to type ennyway..cause I slit my index finger purty good on a razor and it just plain hurts to type at the moment. I see you been kissin' on someone whilst Boo was skippin' along. LOL You be one baddd boy there Mudgie. All that kissin' and stuff'll get you in big trubble. Latah... Hugs, Bobbie

I thought "sure" this'd slip quietly off the board this time. I must be payin'for the sins of a past life time having lived such a clean life in this one. (Well there were all those years on construction but that was them "other" guys.) Well Bobbelina ain't quite done. With so much material it's hard to get it all in one song <G> Maybe an album? Naah, don't think there's "that" much material. Well, maybe a series of short stories "The Adventures Of Bobbelina" On the posting though, I haven't got it perfected yet Anyway, I'm tryin' to think of a safe place to post it. Ya' gotta' be careful. There's spies everywhere. Prob'ly part a' their conspiracy to take over the world. Us men need to have an "anti-conspiracy meeting" In secret of course, otherwise they'd "compromise" some of our weaker members. They've 'bout taken over the world already---------- To arms men!!!!! To arms!!!!!!!!! No, dang it, not "their" arms---Do I gotta' tell you guys "everything"? No wonder they're winnin' <G> Wy (There oughta' surely be a song in that "diatribe" ) (You "are" inspiring<G>) (Oh, I "am" sorry about the cut finger though. I wouldn't wish that on my, uh, "best enemy") (You prob'ly should give it a rest and not do any typing for a couple weeks. If there's typing to be done at work, have your "assistant" do it) (And as far as the shooting going on behind the barn---that ain't the way Little Jimmy Dickens told it)

Well, KK is back. Welcome aboard. You are quite right on the titles. I'm working on two and no doubt there are more. Yeah, we did kinda' get off track there but don't think it was "My" fault, uh, was it? <G>. I'm still trying to think of a safe place to post the full "Bobbelina" song. I'll probably hafta' just run it by 2 or 3 I can trust. You can't be too careful when your life is at stake <G> Thanks for coming by Wy

V 1 You could have a point KK. Wonder if I changed "this" in V 2 to 'Cause?
It's work, work, work every day Not even sure I'm gettin' ahead Each check MEANS more bills to pay DON'T PLAN TO work until I'm dead
V 2 'CAUSE HONEY'S been hittin' on me She asked why I was puttin' her off Well tonight if the two of us agree Cuttin' loose, not countin' the cost
Thanks for the visit Wy

Hmmm...Ok...Now I'm looking closer...could just be me....but I think it needs to transition better between those two verses.....whooops..sorry....I was looking without seeing you'd identified them as verses.....when I said stanzas above... cause ?...I'm not sure......something feels too blunt between the connection there.... To me, it needs more transitioning thoughts to get to verse two...but that would change your whole structure. should be some way to smooth out and connect the dots...w/o such an invasive treatment what I think it needs but "Doesn't" fit...there...is something like this... It's work, work, work every day Not even sure I'm gettin' ahead Each check means more bills to pay ________________maybe something here........ until I'm dead I'm not sure what to suggest...cause you have such good alliteration going on that next line.... actually that's a good title thought in itself......Honey's Been..... hmmmmm....what if...or maybe this will springboard..... ya... each check means I can pay more bills..nope...you have first and 3rd rhyming too....so can't do that.... I'm rambling...but I am thinking....before I saw first and third rhyming.... I thought maybe....you could do something like this... Each check means I CAN pay more bills BUT ...I need some Love before I'm dead too many words...but the thought needs to be something like Just so happens...a honey Thankfully a honey And there's... a honey NOW...there's this...honey who's Not sure what to suggest B....... but wanted you to know I was thinking in case you smelled traces of smoke..... Hope that springboards ya.... Howdy Wy,
To be honest, I'm a bit fearful of writing a song about ANYTHING Mother Nature-related; it seems she's having a field day with me already, I can only imagine what would happen if I called her on the carpet...
As for what bones I HAVEN'T broken, again, don't want to jinx myself, as the day is young (and I'm NOT, but that's neither here nor there.) One hint is that I've been able to keep typing in some form or another since I broke my LEFT ARM in March....though "back in the day" I did break my right THUMB while trying to catch a bus...(had a nosebleed, a briefcase, oh...it's too painful to even recollect....)
Finally, thank you once again for a lovely little medley. I should really be printing all these out and putting them in a scrapbook, like the mother who dotingly documents all of her child's "first" and sweet little anecdotes. Who was it that sang "Me and You and a Dog Named Pooh"? Certainly not that hard-rocker Christopher Robin!
Have a little time to visit before bus, so shall do my best to catch up on what's up.....need to pop in on the song challenge, see how that's coming along too...
Ciao for now, you big Shirker! Boo

Wy,
I's been shirkin' on my replyin'. I think you already have all the sugs you need for this one. Don't see a need to add anything else...for that matter, don't see anything else that it needs. Being the crafty wordsmith that you are, you will have this one Top Ten ready in no time.
Wanted to comment on your note about early to bed...early to rise. And yep, the early bird gets the worm okay...but the SECOND mouse gets the cheese!
Also, will soon email my current thoughts on the "Pickin'" thing we got going.
And yeah, I kinda like being that second mouse! I go to bed about 3:00 AM and get up between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. Check your email after dinner. Later,
Al

OKKK, I'll edit in a possible tweak
V 1 It's work, work, work every day Not even sure I'm gettin' ahead Each check MEANS more bills to pay WANT A LITTLE LOVIN' 'FORE I'm dead
V 2 AND HONEY'S been hittin' on me She asked why I was puttin' her off Well tonight if the two of us agree Cuttin' loose, not countin' the cost

Ummmm Mudgie... Just thought since nobuddy else has pointed it out, that you have changed yer rhyme scheme in the last two verses. In V1 & V2, you are ABAB...in V3 & V4, you switch to ABCB..for whut it's worth. Also might suggest: Cause' honey's been hittin' on me ASKIN' why I was puttin' her off Well tonite if she'll agree WE'LL BE (lots more 'literation) Cuttin' loose, not countin' the cost Line 3 also offers a stronger lead into line 4. Well, ol' Bobbelina is outta here now. Just hadda keep you in line...or try to! 'Tis a tough job! Hugs, Bobbie

"The thread that refuses to die" Well, I'll catch it up again It's "Me And You And A Dog Named Boo"--Boo, Boo just like you Boo I knew there was something but couldn't remember what, till you brought it up---I looked it up. I remember the song quite well now--They said "Lobo" as the artist. Don't even remember Lobo but I'm sure many do. Any way I changed the title to just "Skipalong Boo" and in the song where it has the line, I changed it to "Me and Lou and Skipalong Boo" Thanks for bringing that up Hey Al, Right on the second mouse. Got the sug changes to Pickin' As KK would say, "We is in agreement" There,I is caught up again. Wy

Two questions for you Mr. Shirker:
1) Regarding your most recent post vis-a-vis moi, HUH?
2) Regarding your penultimate post, WHO THE HECK IS LOU?
Alas, I'm weary.... "type type HERE, type type THERE, here a TYPE, there a TYPE, everywhere a TYPE TYPE". Will be hitting the hay soon and gingerly....

Morning Boo, As regards your first question----------- ----1) Regarding your most recent post vis-a-vis moi, HUH?------ -------Aw you were just tired last night. You can figure it out. It's not as tough as your Song Challenge song. Well, you did finally givve us a hint, so in this instance it all bears on your name "BOO". As regards your 2nd question----- --2) Regarding your penultimate post, WHO THE HECK IS LOU? Not having had much book larnin' nor got much schoolin; I had to look up "penultimate" cause I wasn't sure what it meant. Ah, I think I see where they got it now--must've been "Pending the ultimate" or "before the final"--from the Latin maybe. Well Lou is a fictitious character ,Actually her full name is Bobbilou but "that" don't mean nothin'---it's just a way to get out of using a line too close to "Me and you and a dog named Boo" "Will be hitting the hay soon and gingerly....You should be doing "everything" gingerly Boo Wy

Morning back atcha... AH, caffeine is flowing and the world is a better and clearer place because of it. You spoketh of Halloween!! As a rule, I mind the fort and pass out the goodies, whilst JJ makes the rounds with the rugrats. Generally Charlie is kaput before Samantha, so he comes in a bit earlier and changes into doorman mode. As for "gingerly", I should probably have qualified that...specifically, please note the use of the LOWER CASE INITIAL "G"...otherwise, I'd be walking around the beach down by the lagoon, in a tight glittery movie star gown and high heels, waiting to be rescued. (Why can't I get "Gilligan's Island" out of my head????) So get back to work, Mr. Shirk. Here we go...that just tickled my muse.. When the Shirk types Takes his envy out On his friend Boo With a new SHOUT He's the Jerk Shirk Thinks he's clever But his words don't Hurt me EVER BIG DADDY SHIRK WHY DON'T YOU GET BACK TO WORK MAKE THIS THREAD PERK ONCE AGAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN In the meantime Try a new rhyme I like this short verse I've seen you do worse.... Oh man, that's lame, but it's only the first cup of coffee. I can't even remember the tune, for gosh sakes. Anyhoo, I might have to change that whole "pleasant post" business...I guess it'll come down to just down to your perception of the depths of my sarcasm... Later, My Breakable Boo

"I might have to change that whole "pleasant post" business... -----Yep, "Pleasant Post" is a misnomer (Or something) However, it generateth a new ditty, to wit------ -------- Handle Me Gingerly

This is the rewrite That never ends It just goes on And on my friends
Wyman starting writing it Not knowing what it was Now he'll be rewriting it Forever just because

Hey Wy,
Your's is much nicer, true, but my constant medical maladies put me in a perpetual bad mood. Did I mention I broke a coupla bones:D?
And Derek,
You hit the nail on the head! This has turned into sort of a "Long and Winding Ode"!
I think we're all pretty clever to keep tucking in a verse or two here and there, just to make sure this thoughtful thread doesn't go poof for all the wrong reasons!!

OK, If verses are the problem, I ain't writin' no more verses here. This thread is like me--Been around too long. I may still have to break my long standing rule of responding to everyone who comments. And how much Irish did you say you had in you?--never mind. Don't wanta' say anything that requires an answer---send me a PM It must be more than I thought.<G> Y

You rub well Bobbelina---Uh, the salt in the wound thing I mean Yeah, should be a song in there someplace---you can find songs 'anywhere", even in the midst of suffering--matterafact' even more so---who was it, Waylon Jennings? or somebody said he got at least 3 good songs outa' each one of his failed marriages <G<. The "Salt In the Wounds thing" sounds promising for a song. (Makes note) Now people, ("You" 'specially Boo), AS Archimedes supposedly said when the soldiers came to haul him off--well kill him, "Don't disturb my circles"--Well----Don't disturb my thread" ----Send me an E mail or a P M or something. I gotta get outa' here--Bobbie's gonna be comin' back. Scared? heck no, ain't scared. It just takes so much time tryin' to keep her straightened out <G< nevermind that little incident where I was wrong--One a' them, there abberation things" And then with Boo too--it's hopeless. I gotta' pitch and stuff, Should get a pitch list tomorrow. Wy (Anyway, Bobbie and me seem to get along better if one of us is only here part time <G>)

Yeah Derek, I was either born under the wrong star or else I'm paying for the sins of a past lifetime. Just think if Bobbie hadn't been movin' and had been here full time. I might not have survived. Now then the thread is all done, wrapped up, kaput Wy

Hee hee hee If you think you're done payin' fer yer sins..LOL you gots another think comin'!! You got WAY too many sins fer that to happen so easily!! I am done movin'...just have a whole lotta boxes to unpack...so I am back...though not full time! Guess I'da made a good "suffragette", huh? Suffer on my dear!! Hugs, Bobbie

Ya' know Bobbelina, you may force me to rethink my long held opinion that Red Heads were the ornriest of an ornery species. You "know" you should be unpackin'. An' heck, I am prac'ly sinless. There was just that one time and then that other time an'---but those were all realatively "minor" sins. <G> "suffragette",---You "do" have a way with words-- prob'ly should write songs or somethin'. Wy

Of COURSE I should be unpackin'!!! But sometimes I just need some entertainment!!! And harrassin' you is SUCH fun entertainment!!! Ya know bein' PRAC'LY sinless is sorta like one a' them oxymorons...LOL Don't think ANY sin of yers is a "minor" one...LOL or mebbe that is the Mudgie Theory of Relativity??? Hugs, Bobbie

And harrassin' you is SUCH fun entertainment"-----------------------Uh, yeah. " Ya know bein' PRAC'LY sinless is sorta like one a' them oxymorons...LOL --------------Is that like bein' a "little bit' pregnant? <G> "LOL Don't think ANY sin of yers is a "minor" one...LOL or mebbe that is the Mudgie Theory of Relativity???-----------------------------Ya' know, there might be a song there, minus the Mudgie--------I think I'll look into that--When you're suffering, songs and songwring are s'posed to ease the pain, (I think) I know the relativity thing in general but I'll have to look up and see what some of Albert's finer points were---you're an inspiration, (song-wise that is) <G> Now then, the thread is fini--like Kaput, finito, termine Wy (OK, so I asked Google, the last 2 show a relationship anyway)

I KNOW you want this thread to R.I.P., but you're SO CLOSE to hitting the 100 posts mark... Let's keep it going just a bit longer, for the record books.... Are you still shirking your working? Or are you shirking your working by just LURKING? Hey, maybe there's a little life left in this after all... Troublemaker Boo

But I don't "care" about gettin' to a hundred. I tell you if that Bobbelina and Boo ain't a pair to draw to---"One" of 'em's s'posed to be unpackin'. Not only that but she "knows" she's s'posed to be unpackin'. I mean it ain't like it slipped her mind or anything <G> and the "other" one's feeling poorly. (well, I'm back in Missouri ya' see--it also "pears like she's a' comin'on ta' weather a bit") and--the party of the second part being down I believe to a cast n' a half, (A record low for some extended time) has got all this catchin' up on goin' here, goin' there, et. ----"Neither" oughta' have time to be harassing a 'pert 'near innocent person such as myself. "I'm" s'posed to be pitching, (Well, I did lose my pitch list but it'll turn up.) As one of the aforesaid partys pointed out,I do have a change in my rhyme scheme tho'. I fixed one that I'll post directly. Still thinking on the other. So---------Having got both parties straightened out, (for a very short time I'm sure) I will depart Wy

Well, Derek, I could just quit replying but----having been on the boardm gosh, I dunno 6 years, 7 years, I dunno', I've always tried to reply to every comment unless it's one that just doesn't seem to "require" a comment. And I hate to let a couple of "obvious" troublemakers change that <G>. I mean it'd just seem like "conceding defeat" or something , HAH!! Wy

Ok Mudgie...here ya go...a song written JUST fer yew!! ...well from yer perspective, that is!! Hugs, Bobbie I AIN'T CONCEDIN' DEFEAT! © 2007 Bobbie Gallup ASCAP I should refuse to reply "No more posts," I repeat But then there they go... I ain't concedin' defeat Hee hee hee... They're double the trouble A real pain in the neck How they love to harrass me I cain't git no respect BRIDGE: They prod and provoke me Misinterpret, misquote me Never sure if they're joking When they inspire my ire No use to try to ignore 'em I guess I prolly adore 'em Though they lack some decorum Still they do light my fire What's a guy gonna do My suffrin's profound Just lurkin' don't work With feisty females around

Well, that "did" provoke 2 or 3 laughs Bobbelina. Adore 'em!!!?, Adore 'em!!!!?-- ---Well, you just had to rhyme decorum I guess <G> That's an awful long bridge, Outside that, the only other thing I've got to say about it is, in this verse -------- They're double the trouble A real pain in the neck How they love to harrass me I cain't git no respect ------------- I thought you were gonna' end this line-----------------------------------"A real pain in the neck"------- so that it rhymed with "harrass" <G> "Now" then, having found my pitch list again, I'm going to see about doing some pitching like I "should" be Wy (Whew, this's got me drinkin' afternoon coffee. I "never usta' drink coffee in the afternoon) (I guess I'd just as well let this get to a hundred. I've found from long experience that the best way to get along with women is to let 'em have their way)

Well now, Mudgie...as fer that harrass rhyme line...I don't talk like that so it is just yer perverted mind whut went that direction!! Glad ya did get some grins outta it. Tain't bad though, fer a 10 minit write. See...even YOU can be inspirin'!! LOL I should 'pologize though, since that's the onliest thing I have written in several weeks..LOL..but I won't, cause, well, just cause!!! At least KK enjoyed it. She's had more experience with ya than even I have!! So of course, if she likes it...I KNOW it's on the money!! As fer that 8 line bridge...I was juss havin' some fun with that rhyme scheme...AAABCCCB. Dunno if'n I ever wrote one like that before...so don't let it git ya'll in contortions about it bein' too long. This prolly'll never see a publisher anyway! So...whut are you plannin' to pitch? You think you've written somthin' worthy a' that? Hugs & harassment... Bobbie
