Hi
The use of the cappo always gives me inspiration over just playing in the basic position. i always enjoy hearing the same old chords moved around It is a mental trick I use to keep me creating and wanting to write. I get even more of that from alternate tunings. I love thinking i'm playing some great new original chord untill one of the guys comes over and says "Mike That's a G major chord" lol...
This is a G7th Cappo I believe it's the best on the market that I have seen so far. Later on in this series you'll see a very cool way that I use the cappo.

"You have no idea what I'm talking about but you understand exactly what I mean" Quote of the day! Yes, that applies to almost every Beatles song written after 1966 Really glad to see you getting this series started, Mike - been looking forward to it. Will be fun to see how you develop the song. It's gotten off to a great start! Scott

Yeah, the G7th is the greatest capo to date. I've got two of them, and I'm buggin them to make a partial capo too. Now all ya need is a Taylor and you're really swingin'.

Yeah! That's one crazy quote! Made sense to me,,,so I guess that says a lot about me too.
Folks, you'll want to bookmark this forum, as you have no idea what could be coming up! I know first hand from being there in person! Amazing experience to be Subsidized! Every minute,,,,,mostly every second there, the learning process is underway in one way or another. Mike knows so much about the processes involved in writing, arranging, playing and recording, that much of the realization of things came to me later, as I found myself doing things back home as a result of being at Subs. That goes for our drummer, Marnie, especially. He always mentions Sub, and how he got him to be a much better drummer in just one session with him. I hope Mike covers drumming too in those upcoming videos. He explains it all like it's an awakening class, but with the cool and friendly ways he naturally has. NO preaching, just telling from his own learning processes, so the time can be a lot shorter for others to learn. He truly is a giver. I have been so lucky, (thanks to Iggy), for have had a few sessions with Mike, and will continue to work with him, (Scott's song coming up), when Sub is feeling up for me going a few rounds of Martial Arts for my vocal warm-up routine we jumped into the first time there.
My point is, from me seeing exactly what Mike has to offer, these videos are not to be missed by anyone, at any level. You will be witnessing what I feel is true musical genius. The most complex playings by him on ANY instrument seems to be so obvious to him.
If anyone is close to NY, or even if not, I would see about getting there, and work with him on whatever project you might have in mind. He's not just a button pusher. He becomes your caring and knowing collaborator in all aspects of the songs.
Don't miss these videos!
See you soon Mike! Excited about it, OF COURSE! "Get" yourself feeling better, or I'll just have to Karate kick your butt all over that studio to bring it out of you again! You're going to be easy to handle this time,,,,Or.....???
John

Hi Jody Yes I love Taylor guitars as well. I love the way this Jumbo Martin records if I had the money actually any money at all I would love to have a Taylor hanging up in here as well. There great guitars and like Martins are here to stay. The cappo is great! I was considering auditioning and hiring you as a possible person to sing this song. So I'm gald you got to hear some of it. Thanks

Hi John/Colonel Troutman
Thanks for the kind words and constant support.
I'll be getting to drums for sure... Again I wish I could get into specific details but I'm covering a lot of turf. Also to focus on certain aspects of recording with my equipment would do others no good at all with there equipment. So it is a developing idea I'm trying here as well. I wanted more camera angles to and a better camera.
I hope more members will drop in and check it out. It's amazing how many songwriters don't get involved in so many other areas of the song process. Maybe there better off in some regards. If you watch this you will see how far and thin I spread myself out. No Kung Fu for me pal.. I can't even hold my own weight up most of the time. I will be very easy to handle unless i work on my special "lying on the floor style kung fu"
talk soon bro & thanks

Hi Mike! I posted comments in the MP3 forum but I might as well copy them here too. Thanks for getting me over here. I should visit more often--but frankly I'm still catching up just to get back up to speed on the MP3 board. I'll get there. First comment: HEY, ARE THESE ON YOUTUBE??? DUDE!! THEY BETTER BE! Put it out there--that's where *everybody* searches for video. Random people will find you! Way more people know about YouTube than have ever heard of Soundclick. (Oh, and Soundclick was giving me some streaming speed bumps. YouTube doesn't.) Fun to hear you actually SAY "killer" in your NYC accent. I'll be able to "hear" your posts in your voice after this!

I am only through video #4 so far and I think these are really great. Not just from a learning perspective -- but just to see it all happening. Thanks for taking the time to do these and sharing them with us.
