A Game Of The Discovery

meet you at the function
tink glasses at the junction
of the low road to high
accentuate it with a sigh

at the annual convention
we never fail to make mention
of how at last years event
the trail, trail of the scent

we play a game of discovery
when she makes love to me
we put away all censure
when I make love to her
we play a game of discovery
we play a game of discovery
we play a game of discovery

lurid, lucid, anything but elusive
there for the taking
no secrets known, no secrets told
history in the making

once a year we don't care
'bout the world outside
we're all inclusive
fire, desire, sparks fly

we play a game of discovery
when she makes love to me
we put away all censure
when I make love to her
we play a game of discovery
we play a game of discovery
we play a game of discovery

Well, for pete's sake! I can't let you out of my sight for one day and you're messin' around with some chippy at the sales convention. I hope you had protection.
Richard. Out our curiosity. Do you write for commercial? Are you developing and pitching your lyrics? Or is it for fun, just on here? You have so many, done rather well. But I don't think I see that many re-writes or fully developed songs from you.
In some cases, folks use this board for their first draft and then get private for the rest of it. But usually, I see the finished product somewhere down the line.
This is not a crit or anything.....I'm just plain curious.

Hi Marlene

I've found out that no matter how perfect I think a lyric might be, when it goes into production, there will always be some changes to be made, so why should I drive myself crazy, when I know the moment of truth will only besiege me with more tasks!?

As per commercial, some composers have had varying degrees of success with my stuff, nothing major mind you, but as per me, I'm very mindful of the company I keep, and they're money grubbing rats in the music business.

Thanks for the honest answer, Richard. I'm thinking you mean, the money grubbing rats want more than their share.

Hi rittman

well I bumped you off the page grabbing another write, but doesn't seem this had a very long stint on page 1....I think there's a lot more of this going on out there than the stories get talked about. Has a very 21st century ring to it. Even the word choices.

love the use of censure!

good luck with it. smile jm

Rittman, I like this lyric I really do but the we play a game of discovery repeated 3 times is making me dizzy if I was to try to sing it I think i'd pass out was this intentional? Maybe it's subliminal in some way maybe three times fast is Buy it Buy it Buy it now and don't pay the record execs just pay me. But then maybe I'd have to play it backwards to find that out pretty clever!

Hey Ritt!

I like this! It reminds me a bit of Neil Simon's play "Same Time, Next Year."

This is my favorite part -

Hi Rittman:

An interesting story told well with few words....

What kind of music do you hear for this? I'm kinda picturing a guy at a piano bar.....

"we never fail to make mention
of how at last years event
the trail, trail of the scent"

Not sure how well this will transition into the chorus - seems to be leaving a thought hanging. Might work with the right delivery and music....

Cool idea....nice writing...

Scott
