AAARGH! Mike, I confess I did not read this thread earlier because I did not know of any great female drummers. Roger Taylor has been mistaken for a girl before (and looks great in drag) but... he's a guy.
So I'm coming in late and missed my chance at some great one-line responses to all the get me a beer jokes.
I would LOVE to play drums. I really, really, really would love to know how to do that. But all the $$ for drum lessons keeps pouring out other holes in the budget, such as braces payments.
And are Ann & Nancy Wilson not considered great musicians or what??? Hello!! Explain this please.
Linda

I heard from a different Female Drummer privately as well who said she's a great drummer.. let's see if she posts herself as well.
They should also give us a link to check out what they do!

i just came across this site and saw this post. WE (female drummers) are all here Mike. And to all the other haters:( I'm a female drummer. I consider myself to be pretty good. Everyone's got their two cents on what they consider to be "good". The other posters mentioned the excellent female musicians already, so I won't go there. I guess we should be asking Mike and the other negative men:
What label are you signed with? or How successful of a musician are you? What is the most positive thing you've done with music to help/encourage others?
I guess I shouldn't be surprised by Mike's and the other negative comments... I was hoping for a bit more positivity and support with musicians. PERIOD.

Jinla,
Thanks for responding. Actually, I'm not a hater. I've always believed that women have been wrongly held back by men, and that gradually they'd fill out the ranks of great drummers in proportionate and maybe even disproportionate numbers.
But I am a trickster. I was trying to get someone mad enough to respond since we had virtually no women responding...and in your case, it worked. So, welcome to JPF, we hope you stick around and add to our forum.
All the Best, Mike
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music
