Final cut is up. Gem Watson on bass, drumns, and lead (she also did the mix); me on rhythm guitar, vocal, and plinks on the Strat. Lou Quarmwater up in Canada contributed the frogs for the backup chorus. Link is: www.soundclick.com/bands/songinfo.cfm?bandID=183557&songID=5284385Lyrics follow. Thanks, everybody, for your suggestions for changes. Really appreciate it. Joe [THE RAP: This is dedicated to the two bullfrogs that have taken up residence out behind the house–on opposite sides of a fence–and call to each other all night. I don't know which is the boy frog and which is the girl frog–it's hard to tell with bullfrogs–but I did have a good idea what they were talking about..] FROG NEXT DOOR –J. Wrabek 1. Behind the 6-foot fence that I can't climb is a little girl bullfrog that says she's mine; All through the night she calls to me, promisin' me heaven if I just set her free; She says "I've laid these eggs and they're meant for you"-- I got the girl frog waitin' on the wrong side of the fence line blues. 2. I can't see her face, but I can hear her call, and I believe I love her, warts and all; She spreadin' pheromones all over the place, right through the fence that I can't break; Been tellin' me all of the things she's gonna do– I got the girl frog waitin' on the wrong side of the fence line blues. BRIDGE: Every night when the sun go set, I c'an hear her callin' from her lily pad, And I pray to God to give me wings to fly, So I can see my baby on the other side... 3. I curse that fence that keeps us apart, and hides my girl and breaks my heart; I can't dig underneath ‘cause me hands ain't tough, can't jump the fence–I ain't strong enough; I got Paradise callin' and I don't know what to do– I got the girl frog waitin' on the wrong side of the fence line blues. Hey Joe, what you doing with that gun in your hand? Shooting frogs?
Fun song. Good job by all who put this together.

Thanks, guys. Niteshift, they don't *all* get hit by trucks; I think less than half (though close to half) of my songs are roadkill songs. This is just tearjerking unrequited love. (With frogs.) These poor amphibious kids are going to live out their short lives never, ever seeing each other. It is really tragic. And they still talk all night...

Joe, this is hilarious!! Loved it! Thanks for another fun one. GREAT lines... warts and all, laid these eggs, pheromones, etc., just right for a froggy love song! Poor frogs--cantcha throw 'im over the fence or somethin'? Linda

Linda, I can't. When I try to get close to them, they shut up--and I can't find 'em. Just adds to the tragedy. They have to reject help because they don't know it's help. (At least, they hide from the cats, too. The cats would not be offering help...)
That's what made it impossible to record "my" frogs. I had to use recordings of bullfrogs a friend of mine sent me from Canada instead.
Glad you liked the song.
Joe
