Hey, I don't know who Michael Penn is, but he is the subject of a really good music article on CNN interactive. Best of all, he is somebody my age (upper demo) who is still cooking! He has had the usual label agonies, but came out indie the other side.....he is even thinking about doing something on Second Life (which I just joined, btw)..........we are NOT done yet, fellow boomers! http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/25/michael.penn/index.html

Michael Penn is a great singer songwriter. He's also the brother of Sean Penn and the husband of Aimee Mann. Not a bad group to hang with at the holiday's eh?

Ahhhhh someone else I need to look up, then. Thank you once again, JPF, for stuffing my brain cells more full than they were. (I guarantee ya, they tend to run a bit empty some days!)

I was going to mention Michael Penn in the underrated songwriters category, but I thought no one would know who he was (if that makes any sense). I love his music. He had a semi hit in the 90's called "No Myth". Great songs! Acoustic guitar, bass guitar and drums are the main course in his music. "The Bedlam Boys" is another favorite of mine.
I didn't know he was married to Aimee Mann, but I saw them do a great performance together at a Brian Wilson tribute concert.

Michael Penn is one of my all time favorite singer/songwriters. He's awesome and sadly overlooked. I got to see him here in Indy on very first tour. He and Aimee tour together these days, but they mostly just play west coast clubs.
P.S. Thanks for the link.

I have been a HUGE Michael Penn fan since the first day I heard "No Myth..." and, yeah, I'm a big Aimee Mann fan too!
