Hey all,
This is probably a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway... Is it expected of Singers, who perform at the Blue-Bird Cafe to be the Author of the songs they perform there? My feeling is yes, however does anyone know if someone has performed another writer's song? Maybe as a way of showcasing another Songwriter's song? Such as a Non-Performing Songwriter? Probably highly unlikely, still any knowledge or thoughts appreciated:))))

Hi Dayson,
I am a non-performing songwriter and yes, some of my songs have been performed at the Bird...by my cowriters who are performers and who composed the music for them. I have also heard a few performers on other occasions do songs that they did not write but I think it is quite rare. It really is a place for songWRITERs but these days most of the songs seem to be cowritten. In order to perform at the Bluebird you have to go through a rather rigorous audition process, then you may get called to play at a Writers Night. Most "writers" won't squander their performance chances by doing someone else's songs unless they were part of the writing process.
Just my take on it. I go to the Bluebird a lot.

"The standard by which I now measure the things in my life is the following: If I was on my death bed, or if I knew I had a short time to live, would this issue be important? If the answer is no.. I don't sweat it at all. If the answer is Yes, you better believe it goes to the front of the order of today's business!" -Brian Austin Whitney
