Came home just the other day Found a note said my wife went away She found a new life in the fast lane of her mind. So I thought well here I am Things didn't work out the way she planned Looks like I'm gonna be stuck with some extra time.
There's a golf course down the street Where all the boys from the office meet Might stay late at the local bar Dear God life can be hard!
Could say what I want just for the thrill Of not making somebody ill Hope I find a solution to love gone astray No music too loud weather's not cold I'm livin in a space where experience grows I'll do what I can to make the memories fade away
Brand new truck would help a lot Help me get over such a terrible loss Big screen TV might heal my heart Dear God life can be hard!
Caught up in a single man's space I must remember there's a new world to face There's a girl at the office keeps askin me out for a drink I know she can help explain Why a change will ease the pain I gotta learn what to do with this extra time to think.
I got a few beer in the fridge Tryin to deal with this scrape I'm in Gonna go fishin by the ol sandbar Dear God life can be hard!
Oh dear God life can be hard......! Yep life can be hard!

Eric, were you aware that not only is your wife missing here but you have a stray period between the 2nd verse and the chorus?
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Better than missing a period, I guess. Nice hook, except I'd put a "so" before "hard." Like the idea.

Hello my favorite little nurse writer.....What stray period doth thy talk about me dearest?
Where oh where did I stray along the way....There we go writing songs in our replies.....The whole piece is a mock, a satirical and facetious.....The guy's really quite happy she's gone....It's a hoot piece but I still love ya anyway.....LOL!

He he Bobby Joe I guess I won't go there unless your talking about punctuation...........
Like the kids that were in school and the teacher was getting some students to draw on the blackboard an image that depicted action...
First little guy got up and drew a picture of a race car going real fast with lines streaking out behind it.....Teacher said that was very good!
Second little guy got up and drew a picture of a pistol with a flame coming out of the end of it like it was firing.....Teacher said that was very good!
Third little guy got up and just put a dot in the middle of the blackboard and sat down...
Teacher asked, "Johnny, how does a dot on the board depict action?"
Johnny replied, "Well, Teacher, that's a period and my sister's missed two of them and there's been a hell of a lot of action around home lately!!"
Thanks for droppin in Bobby Joe.....I'll think about adding the "so".....<g>.......

Hey Eric WF! Awesome to see you back! I take off from time to time too but I've been back awhile and you're one of the ones that I hadn't seen that I wondered about! Very cool hook you have there! Did you experience the heat wave up there about a week ago? Take Care, Linda A.

This ought to be a real kick to sing.... (darn the luck...I don't have quite enough testosterone...)

Can't you see it, Eric? It's between the 2nd verse and the chorus. Make it go away. Please! Ha! I'm so anal. All stray periods must be kept quarantined before.........they ALL stray. It could be the end of civilization as we know it or even the Antichrist period. I know he's happy. Member, you splained it to me awhile back?

Found a note said my wife went away reads like she physically left...
She found a new life in the fast lane of her mind. ...but I took this to mean she lost her mind.

Hi Linda
Good to hear from you...... I was just lazing around a bit and Tricia emailed me and wondered why I hadn't been round here much so I decided to stop in....I see many of the same great folks are still here working hard at their craft.....I think that says a lot for their dedication.
Take care
Eric

Thanks for the read......Yeah, it's just a fun piece....Guy's wife leaves him and he's contemplating what to do with his freedom....
I consider the "so hard" idea and thanks again...

Hi Eric, Nice to "meet" you. I reckon' I'm new since you were here last. I have to say...I thought he was just terribly heartbroken about the wife leavin' & all...I mean...look at that shoppin' spree he had to go on just to try to make himself feel better. Poor fella. Heart's gotta go out to him. Very nice twist. & I too would like to cast a vote for "so" hard. Bree

Eric,
Nice to have ya back...it's been a while. Some have come and gone, some have come and stayed...but most of us just can't stay away! And ya came back quite nicely with this one. Good lyrics with a nice twist!
Oh...you mentioned to Kaely that there's a place for everything.....you've never been to my home office, have you?!
Hope ya stay around for a while.
Alan

Hi Eric, I like the concept. It's nice to see the other side of a break up rather than the usual doom and gloom!:-) Good fun write and encourages people to look at things afresh. Cheers, Philip.
